Jags up to pick #4

#1

We're almost getting into the territory where we might be able to get a juicy trade down opportunity for one of the QBs and still be able to get one of the Jalen/Jaylon/VH3/Jack tier. That would be best case scenario for this draft IMO.

Would love it if that were to happen

I can't believe you actually posted that. "Trade down for a QB" means we don't have Blake Bortles. If you want a guy like Vernon Hargreaves, you want the Jaguars to stay at #4.

He means trade down with a team that needs a starting QB.

Might be able to get SF or SL to trade up for a QB there

So he should say it that way. Also, why should we do it in the first round if Vernon Hargreaves is available for the picking? We have 7 rounds to play with and can trade picks in all of them.

BTW this link says we are currently #5: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...every-team

What kind of website is this anyway? It has absolutely no information or links - just an inaccurate image.

It depends how you calculate it. NFL.com (and Will Brinson's CBS one) uses current SoS. It's accurate as of right now, but eschews the final month of the season so it is open to big swings.

The way Miller and Stites calculate it is to use SoS including the rest of the schedule. Sure, the records of the last four teams will vary a little before the season is over...but it is far more accurate to include them and their small win% variance than to completely ignore them and then throw their entire % in later.

Once you add the final months of schedule into the mix (Jags facing four bad/mediore teams and Ravens playing Bengals/Steelers/Chiefs/Seahawks) it is far more likely than not that the Ravens jump us in SoS.

Ronnie stanley and vernon Hargreaves are my favorite top 10 picks thus far. I wouldn't have any problem trading down though, there are a lot of quality players in this draft. More depth than can't miss players in this draft in my opinion

Right now we need a can't-miss player on defense. I am a strong opponent of losing out to pick higher, but if we end up in the top 10 as expected, I would rather pick an elite defensive player than trade down.

After Vernon Hargreaves, my favorite defensive player is Joey Bosa. Help on the defensive line would be awesome.

He did say it that way JW.

I'll take a trade down with extra draft picks over the CB.

If Jax is within range of Bosa, then I hope they do whatever they can to get him.

What QBs are considered to be the top picks in this draft?

I have heard Lynch and Goff, but that is about it.

Same old story for the Jags though.... We talk about trading down, getting a ton of picks, and there is pretty much a 99% chance they stay put.

We get in the top 3 again,  playoffs next season or bust.

If the season ended today we would draft 5th.  As said above, sounds like the other link calculcates SOS on games we havent played yet.  Which to me is misleading since those records will change once we play them.  It's interesting to think we feel so close to being a playoff contender but are currently slotted 5th in the draft.  Shows you how mediocre our division is... and the league overall this year.

It seems to me Bosa is the favorite to go #1 ATM. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

From what I'm reading more and more this seems less likely, there are regular talks he's not the #1 player people seem to think he is. Goff or Lynch is more likely to be first overall I guess due to position

I could see Bosa slipping a bit. For one, his suspension was a red flag, two his production is way down, and three there is talk he could measure shorter than his listed 6'6" height. Regardless, if Bosa falls to us we would be foolish not to draft him. We should then turn around in the 2nd and draft another defensive lineman.

Nonsense about the position. Sure, the Browns would rather get a quarterback if they stay on top, but the Titans just got theirs this year and that is not a problem in San Diego. If the defensive line is bad, you can't pick and end too high.

Joey Bosa definitely was better last season, but I don't think he will drop to us because of a two-game suspension. Todd Gurley was suspended for weeks by the NCAA and drafted much higher than many people expected. If Bosa falls to us, I expect the reason to be either his 2015 performance or just the fact that teams have other needs to fill.

I disagree about picking linemen in both rounds. One of those two guys needs to be a ball-hawking defensive back.
