SEC fans, is this how it's done?

This might be the most pathetic thing I've ever read. This guy sounds like a true beta.

I hate Bama, regardless of SEC ties.

[BLEEP] Derek Henry as well.  I'm not rooting for a dude that left the State of Florida to play for a competitor.

This is why people make fun of the sec.

Why do you group a whole group of people when one person has an idiotic mind set?  Just because most UF fans think they don't have a shot at winning doesn't mean they don't want to win the game.  I'm pretty sure they would be happy they won.

My wife went to UF and would be ecstatic to watch Alabama lose at any point in the season.  I would rather watch Bama win and see a good playoff.

Because there isn't just one person that has this idiotic mindset. There are a ton of SEC dweebs that share this same mindset.

I used to work with an Alabama fan who told me he was rooting for and wanted Auburn to beat FSU in the BCSCG so they could "keep it in the SEC."

Who cares?  People take pride that their conference is the most dominant in the nation.  What was it, 7 national titles in a row for the SEC?  That's a pretty good run to have, and guess what it keeps giving them the respect the rest of the scrub conferences keep whining about. Maybe if the ACC took some pride in the football that was played their they wouldn't be looked at as the bottom tier year after year.

This isn't an SEC dweeb making that statement.  This is an idiotic Gator fan hoping that his team would actually lose a game so that the SEC has better representation for a national title.  That's a complete joke.  Newsflash, pulling one comment from Facebook doesn't show the mentality of a whole fanbase.

No, it isn't. But everybody is entitled to their own rooting interests.  I wouldn't worry about what other fans are doing. Worry about you.

You toot the horn of the ACC from time as well.

No, that's not how this works. It is easier to point fingers at others and tell them what they should or shouldn't be doing. Even if you do it from time to time.

Last I checked the last three years the #1 teams in the country have been from the ACC. Plenty of pride and good football played in the ACC. Why so much animosity in your response? He was just pointing out one fans response. This may have been one person who posted it, but this does seem to be a theme among SEC fans. No other conference does this, that is why it's questioned.

No, he grouped one fans response and lumped a whole conference in with it.  I clearly pointed that out in my reply.  Good try though.

2012 - Bama

2013 - FSU

2014 - OSU

The last three years, huh?

Edit: There is no theme of wanting your team to lose so that another team can win a national title.  Is there a theme of SEC fans rooting for others to win big games/national championship games? Yes....but this thread was flawed from the start.  I'm shocked FSU fan boys are sticking together on this and fail to see the point here.

Ouch, UF Knight...that stings.  I call out the stupid UF posters as well, just like the idiot who made the Facebook post above.  If you're an idiot, you're an idiot.

By the way, nobody remembers who is number 1 at this point of the year.....

I tried to convince my neighbor, a FSU grad, that UF winning early in the season benefited FSU's strength of schedule and his only response was "[BLEEP] the Gators, I hope they lose every game"   :woot:

Now that's the spirit I'm looking for with rivals !!!

It's like bragging on your best friends hot girlfriend when you're dating a dog. It's weird and it does seem to be a theme with SEC schools.

I sure as heck DO NOT want titans, colts or texans in the SB. I wonder why it's different.

It seems to be that weird, adolescent pride that folks take just being associated with something. I used to have something like that, but I eventually grew out of it. Maybe we are just being exposed to emotionally immature people over and over again.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

It's really not complicated or strange.  You're wasting your time comparing it to the NFL. That is totally different (no polls, no recruiting). SEC fans have a method to their madness, and they've succeeded in creating a perception that the SEC is the best conference in football.

That perception leads to benefits for their own favorite school:

1. strength of schedule being perceived more difficult, leading to better poll rankings

2. recruits perceiving that the SEC is the best place to play

3. coaches perceiving the SEC as the best place to coach

other benefits exist not listed.  you also have to consider why ESPN has a deal with the SEC to televise all their games.  The SEC network is the most watched of all conference networks. The SEC simply has more fans that care.
