UCF hires Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost as head coach

#1

All the rumors were that they were hiring the Bowling Green head coach.  Maybe there was too much wavering and they decided to move on.  Still a pretty good hire.  Oregon's offense has still been consistently strong.  It's still all about recruiting.  Hopefully he is strong in that area.

I remember when he was a great college QB. I also remember when he was a terrible pro safety. Nice to see him working his way through the coaching ranks.

I think it's a good hire. I think he'll do fine recruiting the Florida boys that slip the cracks of the Power 5  Florida schools and will have pretty good athletes to run that offense. Should be interesting to see for sure.

Good move for UCF.  This would be a lateral move for any type of successful head coach at a lower level D1A school thus not likely to happen.  So they kind of need to be a proving ground for an assistant looking for an opportunity.

After the Fiesta Bowl win UCF was in prime position to take a few of those top recruits a year from the big boys, but O'leary put us back in the trash heap.

This is a good hiring. Frost is an innovative coach and was even being mentioned as possible leap to the NFL. He's young enough that I think he'll have the "ears" of the younger players too. If he brings that Oregon offense to UCF, it should help that program. They really did look like they were turning the corner but this year has been...binge worthy.

Frost is the anti O'Leary.  He has already said they are going to hit the ground running and liven it up a bit.  O'Leary was as ho hum as it can get.

He's also come out and said that they are going to start putting names on the back of the jerseys again.  That wasn't done during O'Leary's tenure.  With how often Oregon switched their uniforms, I'd imagine we may be seeing some updates there as well.
