Classic gabbert.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Somewhere in the world, Gene Smith is throwing popcorn at his TV and shouting about how he was right about Gabbert all along.

Only Gabbert. I laughed so hard when I saw this yesterday I had to post the article on my FB page.

For this alone Gabs should probably win that sportsmanship award.

That picture of him in the front row is sadly hilarious. Lol

Hes played good for a backup/ journeyman type QB the last few games. He pretty much looks like the same QB he was here, but I did see him make the occasional good play on his own.

I agree.  I don't hate the guy at all.  I feel bad for how it worked out.

Eh I disagree. Some of those throws he's making downfield were reaaaal nice. Even some of his roll outs and throws on the move, you remember what made him a top 10 pick to begin with. Kid's got an arm.

Now let's see how he responds with a serious pass rush in his face.

He has the same OL that Kaep had and he has already faced the Seahawks.

Don't get all the hate.  I hope he does well.

His combined stat line during his two starts this year of being 37 of 59 for 449 yards with 3 TDs and 2 picks sounds better than any two game stretch he had here that I can remember.  I also seem to remember him passing for over 200 yards in a game being a very rare occurrence when he was here.  It sounds like some time on the bench may have helped him a bit.

I remember that being the plan for him here when he was drafted before JDR decided to throw him to the wolves in an attempt to save his own job.

It was more Gene Smith's fault than deal rio. How are you going to go into the regular season with Luke mccown as your starter? Especially if you want your rookie to sit and learn. I don't blame del rio for that at all.

Most of the yards he put up were in garbage time. I remember seeing his stat sheet and it was like 6 of 10 for 17 yards or something.

Uh...it wasn't? David was supposed to start, Luke #2, Blaine #3.

Makes you wonder what might have been. If garrard didn't injure his back, could gabbert have developed steadier on the bench than being thrown to the wolves?

This goes to show how far SF has fallen. I read they forgot to print Gabbert

on the schedule. Professional teams pay someone to do only that job.
