As of right now he will be paired with Church which could improve his play. But let's be honest he was very average last year. For the money we forked out, he didn't live up to expectations.


I'm willing to give him another year but if we can get a young guy in that provides the same play then I'm starting the rookie.

I had high hopes when we brought him in here but the complete circus-like gaffes when trying to intercept the ball was a troubling sight to me.

 

He needs to have better positioning as well, because while he may be the last line of defense, he took himself out of many plays due to him being so far away. Maybe he thinks he has Earl Thomas speed and range - and clearly that is not the case.

Another good analysis. I felt the same way in some games. I honestly feel like he had the least responsibility in last year's scheme. He was not around the ball as much as I thought he would be.

He's not the ideal player to play deep center field so frequently.  He clearly had a difficult adjustment to the role, but he wasn't bad.  He just didn't make much positive impact. 

 

It will be interesting to see if they attempt to utilize his skill set more wisely in 2017. 

 

I think that if they don't force him to play quite so deep in their cover one and cover three looks he'd be more effective. I'd love to know where the new secondary coach stands on this topic and this player. 

 

I'd like to see them play some cover two - or at least "show" cover two with the safeties some so he can eyeball the QB a bit and have more chances to jump routes.  He's a safety that benefits from being in the mix more than he was last season.  

I think he could be a more impactful player if they can play some cover 2 - disguise the safeties' roles a bit  - and not force him to be deep single high so often.

poor tackling, lack of big plays - and actually had a hand in preventing some big plays from our defense this year.  complete waste of money so far.
