Firing Coaches now will not help this team in the long run...
|
I know most people on this board want the head coach fired yesterday. I have seen post that say "let's see what Maroone can do" and then "if that doesnt work out then let's bring in Sean Payton at the end of the year"...
While that may seem like the obvious thing to do, why would a coach like Sean Payton want to come here if we fire Bradley now? Since Del Rio was let go, we had Mel Tucker as an interim head coach who wasn't resigned. Then we had Mike Mularkey who was fired after one season, and now we have Gus Bradley who is basically 2.5 seasons into a major rebuild. How does firing him now instill any confidence in other potential head coaches that could potentially come here? This would show a huge lack in patience or long term vision and I really doubt a guy like Sean Payton would come to an organization that shows these qualities. I know it sounds horrible but the best thing to do is stick with Bradley at least until seasons end and then reevaluate before making any decisions. And as long as locker room still believes in him, then they should probably let him finish out his contract in year 4 before making a switch at coach. We show less advertisements to registered users. I think most people are in agreement and realize Shad's plan at this point is to play the season out with the staff as is.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
The thing you need to ask yourself is "Is Gus Bradley going to make the team better".
If you think he is (who in the world would at this point), then sure keep him and play it out. If you don't, then let's rip off the band-aid now and see what we have in the staff this year. Then decide what to do after the season. As far as coaches not wanting to come here, I believe $$$ talks and it's that simple. Let him finish the season and sort out the mess this offseason. Bortles will continue to progress into our franchise guy without the distractions of a head coach change, and Gus will continue to piss away wins and get us yet another top draft pick.

The supply is much bigger than the demand (Economics 101). Potential coaches are not going to wait around for the New England job to come open because when it does, it's not going to have Brady. This is a very attractive market with $23 million in salary cap and already has it's QB of the future.

Firing him now would show impatience? If anything Khan has shown incredible patience by keeping him up until this point. I don't think any coaches would look at Bradley being fired with an 8-30 record as an unjustified impatient move. Many coaches have been fired for having much netter records.
One of these years.............

Quote:That is true and I agree with that plan.Correct, i actually think it's one of the more attractive positions to come to: - Likely a franchise QB - A team with talent that is underachieving - The chance to get credit for a quick turnaround - A competent GM that will continue to acquire talent through the draft - A rockstar owner who is doing things no one else has - Sunny Florida - No state income tax

You can't act like we are the only team that would looking at Sean Payton. A team like the Colts assuming they fire Pagano after this year would use those statistics against us if we fired Bradley now.... We show less advertisements to registered users. There is a legitimate concern that Bradley is instilling an "OK to lose" mentality in the players that may carry over after he's gone. Marcedes recent comments highlight that concern. There could be a very big downside to waiting until after the season.
And I agree with Hurricane. The chance to take over a franchise with a legitimate young franchise QB and lots of good young players and turn it into a winner is a huge selling point. Nothing beats taking a losing franchise and winning with it on one's coaching resume'. A perceived lack of patience by management is a minor factor. After all, coaches generally don't expect to fail. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" Nope, agree with the OP. This team has chosen a plan. Stick with it. The age alone is a huge factor.

Quote:Not to mention you can continue to be a terrible HC and still keep your job...... lol, good point. The bar is set so low around here that all you need to get is 5 wins to show improvement and heading in the right direction.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Quote:Ummm have you been downtown recently? I was downtown last week (past the stadium) for the first time in forever and I was shocked by how much things are still the same. It is really pretty sad to be honest. I don't know how they plan to "fix" it. |
