Bortles: A Fun Exercise (League Perspective)
|
Please, Bortles detractors (because he sucks and is horrible and wishes he was as good as Garrard) help me with this list. I am going to write down all of the teams in the league and whether or not they would take Bortles over their starting QB, going forward. Your job is to tell me what an idiot I am and how horrible Blaine Bortles is. Let us begin:
Indianapolis Colts: Probably not Tennessee Titans: I tend to think so, but i will say no due to newness Houston Texans: Obviously Jacksonville Jaguars: Yes...? Miami Dolphins: Yes Buffalo Bills: Absolutely New York Jets: Without a doubt New England Patriots: The way NE bids adieu to aging vets I will say there is a possibility, but I will err on the side of not because...well...Tom Brady Cleveland Browns: Clearly Pittsburgh Steelers: No Baltimore Ravens: Hmmmmm....maybe Cincinnati Bengals: I think so but I'll say possibly Kansas City Chiefs: Yes Oakland Raiders: I'll call it a push Denver Broncos: Yep San Diego Chargers: I think yes Arizona Cardinals: Yes St Louis Rams: Yessir San Francisco 49ers: Yeah Seattle Seahawks: Yes, but I will say no due to the popular misbelief that Russell Wilson is a top tier QB. Chicago Bears: Yes Detroit Lions: Yep Minnesota Vikings: Yes, but I'll say maybe Green Bay Packers: No Carolina Panthers: Maybe Tampa Bay Buccaneers: No based on newness New Orleans Saints: Yes Atlanta Falcons: Probably not Washington Redskins: Definitely New York Giants: Yes Philadelphia Eagles: Oh yeah Dallas Cowboys: I actually think yes So, EXTREMELY conservatively 60% of the league would love to have Bortles over their QB. If we split the difference of the teams I consider a push (5 divided by two - 2.5 plus the 18 - 20.5 divided by 32) 64% of the teams in the league. So again, VERY CONSERVATIVELY, as I don't want to come off as a homer, approximately 2/3 of the league would take BBINT over their QB. And if I am being honest, IMO the only teams that would stand pat with their QBs over Blain Bortles would be: Green Bay Packers Atlanta Falcons Indianapolis Colts New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers So in my opinion, 85% of the league would take Biff Bortles over their QB situation. Please explain to me where I was wrong, how I am an idiot, and how bad #5 is. I'll take your response off-air. Thx. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
If you really think that the Denver Broncos would bench Peyton Manning for Blake Bortles well then I cant help you...
I doubt Dallas would with Jerrys open love for Romo
also Rivers leads the league in yards, towards the top in completion percentage and touchdowns. I think both would be no or at the very least maybe's.
The only teams I think would definitely make the swap are the Texans and Jets. The maybes are the Dolphins, 49ers, Vikings, and the Redskins. The rest are obvious no's in my opinion.

Broncos would swap 2015 Peyton for 2015 Blake going forward 100% of the time. But I will just assume you are going off of name recognition and don't actually watch football games. The latter question seems arbitrary and the results of that question doesn't reflect his level of skill relative to the rest of the league, which was the point of the post, right?
Quote:I doubt Dallas would with Jerrys open love for Romo Fair enough. I could split the difference on the two. Especially if we are looking at the future. Rivers and Romo are very good (both underrated IMO) but they are both getting up there in age.

I think Blake Bortles has potential but he's not Eli & Peyton Manning good at this point in his career. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Hilarious. Oh I see, nevermind my previous question. I guess the point of the poll was to not make any substantive argument for your position, or clarify what exactly you're trying to prove here. You're just looking to take jabs at people who don't agree with your obvious homerism. You'd seriously take the QB who cannot complete over 60 % of his passes or lead his team to a road win ever, over surefire hall of fame players and super bowl mvps? Get real man.
Quote:Sure, just like Coughlin would bench Eli for Blake.. Okay, got it. You haven't watched Peyton play this year at all. You should have just said so.

If we're talking future than sure you'll see a lot more green than what you even put, I'm just thinking in terms if things were even in 2015 and 2016 both teams would likely keep their current qbs. Ok then I think you're confused about what you're trying to argue for here. There are teams that would make that trade just because it makes more sense as a way to maximize the value of their roster. What team wouldn't trade a QB who is going to retire at the end of the season for a first round prospect who has yet to hit their prime? That doesn't mean he's a better QB, just that the move makes more sense to the team from a value perspective. You say 'keep up,' but your argument cannot even get off the ground.

Look it over and let me know if I can help. Thx. Quote: So instead of being so smug and condescending, why not clearly lay out the argument for the point you're trying to prove and then maybe everyone could engage in actual discussion.
Its 6 in the morning and you must surely be trolling but I'll bite.
Why in gods name do you think the Bengals would want Bortles over Dalton... We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I think High Score is having a laugh, with a laughable list.
'Obviously', even the Texans that just ridiculed the Jags by better QB play would take the guy they just beat. And ya, Belichek will drop the aging Tommy Boy for your guy. Dalton, dumped. Romo, runsacked. Dude, lower the teal visor. He has a marked way to go.
Success is a journey, not a destination. Go all out Mighty Jaguars.
Yes, Fans are idiots who think Blake isn't the answer. He will prove to be the best QB in this franchises history. However... I hope we don't waste his talent with garbage. I hope he won't become another MJD. So much talent, such a waste.
If offered Bortles for Peyton, the Broncos would make the swap in a hot second. OP is right, there are very few teams that have definitively better long-term prospects at the QB position than the Jaguars.
