I wonder if he was pressured into "retiring" or if the remaining bit of passion for coaching fizzled out...

I can't believe he would just pull the plug mid-way through the season... Those players deserve better than that...

Anyone else think that the other USC might have come calling? It would only fit in with the rest of the day's college football news. Wink

Hahah nah. Pretty sure Spurrier is all done. End of a fantastic career.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Pretty sure he spent more time golfing in Myrtle Beach than coaching in Columbia, SC.

If pressure from the school was an issue, this story would have been reported weeks ago to no one's surprise. The sudden nature of this change is confusing. Is he calling a resignation a retirement like Urban Meyer did?

This is just odd to me. I know that Spurrier does things his own way, but who just up and leaves in the middle of a season? Did LSU beat them that bad?!?!

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
