Undrafted players exceeding expecations in the NFL
|
There is a long history of undrafted players showing everyone they can be very good in the NFL Tony Romo, Jeff Saturday, and of course #88 Allen Hurns. Does anybody think they should have been draft picks, even if other teams picked them? I am there are many others. Rod Smith was one and had a great career in Denver. Just a fun topic here, not exclusive to the Jaguars.

Arian Foster
Wes Welker James Harrison Antonio Gates Kurt Warner Cameron Wake
Quote:Arian Foster The names Foster and Wake are surprising. I was not sure if the Packers drafted Warner or not.
John Randle went from undrafted to the Hall of Fame. Stephen Neal wrestled in college and was a 3x SB winner with the Pats. Priest Holmes was undrafted and had a pretty good career.

Fred Jackson of the bills, second most yards by an undrafted rb behind Holmes.

Fred Jackson is also 34 years old still playing RB in the NFL.....as an undrafted FA.

It would be cool to see some type of chart by year/draft of who went undrafted but is a star or at least productive.
Quote:Fred Jackson is Marshawn Lynch's backup. I know. I watch every bills and jaguars game every week. I didn't mention the seahawks for the general audience. Ps. My above statement is without attitude or tone, just explaining why I didn't mention the 'hawks. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Everyone thinks they have it all figured out, Tom Brady was passed up by many teams several times before the Patriots drafted him towards the end of the draft.... just saying...
its a bit of a gamble they weigh the odds they think they know exactly what to look for based on film, and measurements but they still get it wrong at times..

Tom Brady was #199, a compensatory pick. I watched him play at Michigan and have no idea why he dropped that far. Last year someone posted here in a 2014 draft redo, Allen Hurns would have been a third round pick. I bet people make that kind of statement about many undrafted players and even late round picks.
I find it funny Allen Hurns who went undrafted has to date better numbers in receptions, yards, and TD than the #1 receiver picked last year: Sammy Watkins. Meanwhile Allen Robinsons are almost identical, considering he missed 6 games last year.
