BB vs Winston

#1

I've seen/heard a lot about Winston not being very good and that should help the Jags win this weekend.  However, the stats are very similar for both players.  I don't think either team has a real advantage over the other.

                                  BB                Winston

Passing Yards           996                  965

Attempts                   156                   133

Completions              85                    73

Compl %                   54.5                  54.9

Average                   6.4                    7.3

Yards/Game             249                  241.2

TDs                           6                        6

INTs                           3                        7

Sacks                        8                        9

Rating                      78.9                   71.2

They both suck. Its going to come down to which team will make less mistakes. I wish I could say that I think that team will be the Jags, but I doubt it.

It honestly opened my eyes too.  I'm not saying BB won't be good (of course I hope he is) but to see that Winston is basically his twin statistically puts it into perspective. Blush

Hey now maybe we can actually get an INT or two this week!

BB needs to get his completion percentage up about 10%

Bortles got robbed on one of those INT's. Unfortunate that it got tipped and flew right to the Panthers player.

He's also had defenders drop multiple gimme INTs. I'd say luck has been on his side thus far when it comes to turnovers.

I see a glaring difference. Especially when you take into account no Julius Thomas, the second half conservative playcalling for us and the INT's and pick 6's between the two.

Bortles is a on a completely different level.

This is a reason why stats don't tell the entire story. Watch the game.

Bortles comp % is naturally down because we take more shots this year, we also had a lot of easy drops early

I think Blake should get it about 58% by the end of the year, also Blake doesnt have the ints Winston has this year, which is a big improvement over last year

And as bad as Bortles has ever player in the past, I never recall it being this bad:

"Winston had a role in five turnovers that led to 27 points for the Carolina Panthers on Sunday as the Bucs dropped to 1-3 on the season. He completed 26 of 43 passes for 287 yards with two touchdowns, but he was intercepted a season-high four times."

Every QB has that, David Garrard prob had the most dropped ints I ever seen in my life lol

We've aired it out multiple times and they were incomplete or drops mostly. Don't forget our WR's decided to drop every pass against the Panthers, and no one was helping him out.

Of course every QB has defenders drop INTs. That was my point, that EVERY QB has tipped passes that become INTs that aren't their fault, WR running bad routes or dropping passes, poor pass protection, and everything else. The point is sometimes you have to call it for what it is, and Bortles is not very good. The fact that he is even being reasonably compared to a rookie (who looks like an obvious bust) doesn't speak well of his ability and performance.

Yeah - every QB has that and has drops from their own WRs...I mean just 2 weeks ago Winston's WRs probably had 10 drops.

Bortles looks much better this year than last year and just overall when watching him (like pocket presence, etc.).  Hopefully he continues to improve.

Winston has thrown 7 ints and about 20 should be ints. He'll force balls all game.

Their pass defense is also ranked 2nd, but that's just bc they have so many turnovers that opposing QBs never have to throw very far to score lol

Winston also has 3 fumbles to Blake's 2. And a qbr (since that's what everyone loves now) of 35.6 to Blake's 57.5. For reference, Peyton has a qbr of 55.4
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

And his last touchdown was with a few minutes to go and his team down 20 points. Just like he did in the first game against Tennessee.
