Quote:Hell no, if you know you arent gonna keep him after the season, make an example of him

An example to who? The rest of the staff? They will be gone with the new coach. An example to the new coach? If he isn't winning he'll know the axe is impending. Whether it's mid season or at the end of the season doesn't matter.

Not really. Vegas and all the talking heads still favored Indy even after it was announced Luck was out. The only people who thought Jax would win were residents of Jax.

And we out played them, but the freaking kicker sucks

Quote:Explain to me the benefit of firing a coach mid-season? If we are firing him it means we think the season is over anyway. What's the point? Is it just to get a quicker jump on the candidates? We can't talk to other coaches from other teams until the season/playoffs are over anyway.

I say let the season ride out. Who knows, maybe once we get some guys healthy his game plan will kick in and we'll be begging him to stay.
Because there is a chance it can get better.  Keep going the same route will equal the same results.  The benefit is that it could get better.

Quote:so.... after 4 games you expected the Jags to be .500 or better?

Honestly?

Should they not have beaten indy given the circumsances jackass? Should they not have beaten carolina when leading at half only to drop a 2nd half egg? You're right they should be 3-1, not 2-2.

The Dolphins also expected to win the division and make the playoffs.  Not the case here.

And us not being favored against a backup qb speaks volumes to where we are in our "rebuild" this team is going no where under Gus

You shouldnt be proud of a 13-16 win against a bad team anyway, especially with the impotence in the 2nd half

You mean the team that we beat?

They got waxed by the Bills and lost by 2 tds to the Jets

We got waxed by the Pats and played the Panthers and Colts tough

It just means a team fresh off making it to an AFC championship is better than a team fresh off making a top 5 pick. No surprises here.

I'm not proud but if he makes a kick the mood would be way different today, it would be a tough win but we have to learn how to win

If we lose to TB sunday I will be the first to say Gus has to go

By all accounts, Philbin lost the players.  Gus hasn't had that happen yet which is why he'll get at least until the end of the year.

Basically the players were losing respect for their coach and turning against him. When that happens, it is time to move on to the next guy.

Where in the world did it say 'they were losing respect for their coach and turning against him'?

The article I posted. It says the players respect him less now and prefer the tight ends coach.

The fact that he hasnt lost the players after 8-28 is the problem... Amazing that people cant see that
