After Trump rewarded General Michael Flynn with a political appointment for speaking so nicely about the Donald at the RNC convention, Flynn was forced into early resignation due to his pre-inauguration collusion with the Russians before a month of the administration had passed.

 

A second, better choice, Vice Admiral Bob Harward, declined the Trump administration's appointment after the president's first press conference.  Speculation about Harward's refusal range from the chaotic nature of the press conference itself, to personal reasons regarding his family, to Trump's refusal to let Harward pick his own team.

 

Donald's 3rd choice seems to be a knock out of the park.

 

General H R McMaster is an active 3 star general with a doctorate in military history from UNC-Chapel Hill.  His doctorate thesis was published as a history of the Vietnam war called "Dereliction of Duty", that chronicled the mistakes of military and political leaders during the Johnson administration.  McMaster is also a brilliant tactician who formed the best strategy for winning and maintaining territory in the 2nd Iraq war.  Best of all, he is known for questioning his superiors and forming tactics and strategies based on facts, not politics or bizarre beliefs that need constant affirmation.

 

In short, he's the perfect man for the job, and the country is fortunate to have him.
