This year's free agent class for the Jaguars is looking really good so far

#1

And that is without Julius Thomas.

Stefen Wisniewski has brought a veteran presence to the position that was missing last year. He was brought in on a prove it deal and so far has well, proven it. Could end up being the long term answer at the position.

Jermey Parnell has helped fill what may have been the worst position on the team last year. He seems to have brought an attitude to the line that was needed. Has largely gone unnoticed so far, which is a good thing.

Jared Odrick had one of the best games ever by a Jaguars defensive lineman the other day. He was brought in to fill the same role Michael Bennett has in Seattle. And so far looks like he can bring the same playmaking ability to us that Bennett brings to Seattle.

Dan Skuta was kind of an unknown to most Jaguar fans. He looks to be a good fit as the Otto. And he has brought some nice pressure off the edge when lined up as the LEO on third and down situations.

Sergio Brown was someone I was unsure about. I knew he was a good special teamer but was not sure about him as a free safety. Through the preseason and the first two games, he is the leader of the secondary that this team has not had in years. His play has been good and he seems to bring a little swagger to the defense.

Davon House is an incomplete right now as he missed alot of this past game with an illness.

It is obviously very early in the season. But the early returns are looking good.

True that. Maybe Dave should simply trade all his first rounders for veterans. He does well evaluating NFL players and after the first round.

Can't really say yet if DC can evaluate 1st round talent. Jockel may not be a home run but Bortles is starting to shape up and still may very well become the elite QB and Fowler Jr. was just a accident there is no way you could even begin to evaluate that pick.

As far as the free agents so far I think Weisniewski is by far the best pick up give the contract he took and the level of play we are getting. Odrick is a solid player but they overpaid a bit for him and Thomas is showing why the Broncos didn't work really hard to retain him, the guy is always injured and as far as tight end goes he is pretty much just a pass catcher. If they don't even throw to the tight ends what is the point.
