Tight Ends
|
A couple days ago on NFL radio they were talking about just how deep this year's TE class is as there are several good looking prospects. Having traded away Julius, our current WR situation looks rather bleak...
There's really not much here as the Jaguars are somewhat desperate now to replace what we thought we were getting in Julius Thomas. I'd like to take a deeper look into the TEs available in this draft. I'm going to post this now and field comments, etc, but throughout the day I plan to delve deeper ... look at videos .... figure out what names are going in what rounds ... and figure out who we really want. Quite frankly, I'd be absolutely shocked if we don't draft a tight end this year.

I like Michael Roberts the Toledo tight end. He's 6'5 260. He's a great run blocker and with enormous hands (11" 5/8)
Only really had one year starting but had 16 TDs this year 550 yards and helped block for Kareem Hunt. He's the proper inline tight end who can still make yards in the passing game. Something crazy like 70% of his catches in college have gone for 1st downs or TDs. Can be had in the 3rd or 4th.
Good post, except the "what we thought we were getting" part is not true at all. We expected an upgrade at TE. We did not expect Julius Thomas to lose snaps and miss so many games. I will not say any more about that.
Neal Sterling and Ben Koyack look promising and flashed potential last year. Marcedes Lewis is a good blocker. After them, the TE group falls off a cliff. Anyone who doubts we need to draft another TE is crazy. Quote:I like Michael Roberts the Toledo tight end. He's 6'5 260. The day Lewis retires I will be happy. The only te. To have multiple contracts and always be injured.

Oj howard from Alabama is the best tight end prospect I have seen come out in years.
Njoku from Miami is an absolute freaks how with so much raw ability. He makes Vernon Davis look like a slob. That's just the top two guys, there is a lot of depth and potential behind them. I think we wind up with at least 1TE from draft picks and maybe another couple udfa

Quote:I like Koyack and I believe he is ready to start. Me too, but if Martellus Bennett did not want to be paid top dollar I would chase him. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Jonnu Smith worth a gamble later-on? Not the tallest though. I don't like gambles. It is important to know what we are getting with all eight picks.
From this draft. Realistically thinking where we'll be at in each round. I really like Bucky Hodges out of Virginia Tech, Gerald Everett out of South Alabama & Jake Butt out of Michigan.

Quick thought. The Ravens have an abundance of TE's on their roster.
What will it take to pry away Maxx Williams? Quote:Quick thought. The Ravens have an abundance of TE's on their roster.I'm not sure anyone could give a real answer for that but id give up to a 3rd rounder for him if we wind up being desperate. But maybe something more reasonable would be a 4th and a 6th? It's hard to say what they would actually want because there is limited body of work but he was taken in the second round. My guess is they would want back what they spent. He's only gonna be 23 this year and would be a great weapon.

Quote:Quick thought. The Ravens have an abundance of TE's on their roster. Why would you want to trade picks for a TE when that position is deep in the draft? Just use that pick for a TE. Quote:Jeremy Sprinkle in the 5th round would be a nice addition to Lewis/Koyack/Sterling IMO. Agreed

Quote:Eric Saubert and Adam Shaheen are the day 3 tight end standouts to me. I expected you to say O.J. Howard LOL.
Sprinkle is an idiot. The kid went with his team to the Belk store which was sponsoring their bowl game (Belk Bowl) and he got caught stealing, so he was suspended for the bowl game. That should tell you all you need to know about the kid. He doesn't have the sense, God gave a goose. How moronic!

It only tells us one thing he did. |
