Fire Gus Comments

#1

As frustrated as I am with losing, I find all these calls to fire Gus knee jerk. Did Gus drop all those passes today? It was a garbage game, but Gus and the Defense did enough to keep us in the game. Had we won the game in ugly fashion would anyone be saying this? I'm not ready to start back at square one over one loss. How quickly we forget games we were blown out in the first half and not competitive at all.
Only a chump boos the home team!

I do not think we fire him just yet but after London and we still have no wins It is time for a change. Let Doug Marrone take over and see what he can do

Someone has to be the fall guy for what is occurring on the field. Gus made the decision to keep these guys dropping balls, so technically, he is responsible for it.

This is likely the entire reason he came here to be honest. He is still drawing a paycheck from Buffalo too.

He is a good Defensive Coach he is not Head Coach material until he proves it.

The thing is, no quality coach is going to want to coach in Jacksonville.   Before Gus was hired, quality coaches like Andy Reid and Jeff Fisher were out there but they would rather choose other franchises than coach in Jacksonville.   We are stuck with the bottom feeder coaches.

I'm not ready to cut or axe anyone after the first game. We didn't have our main weapons on either side of the ball, and the team did have a rough game overall. They completely shot themselves in the foot over and over again. If this continues consistently throughout the season, then I will want a change. He has till the Bye Week to prove me wrong, and I want to see some wins and a mean football team.

If you take away our turnovers, and missed FG's, we would've had a big lead and momentum. Bradley needs to get these guys to understand its make or break for this team and those mistakes won't be tolerated. That's my only frustration with him after this game. He can't be nice and hug everyone after they screw up that badly. Also, get a better flippin game plan for the Dolphins. Bubble screens and shutting down our own running game was terrible. Why would you stop running if it was working? That is our OC's fault.

Last year it seemed like we couldn't call deep passes because the O-line blew.

This year, with the O-line being competent, we still don't call deep passes.

Im sad we didnt win, but I'm also glad we didnt get totally blown out, this wasnt as bad as last years opener IMO. I dont believe in firing Gus this early either. Yes I also get he is 7-26 or whatever but I have seen improvement and I hope it starts coming in bigger chunks when we get some healthy players back as well as everyone is settled down from the season finally being here.

If however we dont have a win after London, I will be looking at the firing to be far more realistic then.

Bingo people blaming Gus, but the loss was down to stupid plays by players, fumbles, ints, missed xp and fgs

The only bad mistake by Gus was the 12 men on the field forced to use a timeout, but that might not be on him

Who's fault is it then? Is Gus the head coach or not?

You know one thing I take away from this loss is I feel the Jags went out there expecting to win I think they need to realize they are underdogs every time they step on the field. They need to play like they want to win not like they expect to win.I think they can turn this season around it starts with better coaching decisions

Stop running the ball on 1st and 2nd down then you have one shot on third. if you feel Blake is the guy let him have the Ball this team needs to be a pass first offense. The pass can open up the running game.

Might have been a player not knowing his job, but I dont know what happen in that sitiation I wasnt on the sidelines or in the headphones, it could have been Gus not knowing what to call

What proves he's a good DC?  The Hawks D which continued to get better well after his departure?
