Kevin Norwood was released by Seattle. I liked him coming out of college.

It would be more than tempting, he had 10 sacks last season and we had him in for a visit before we decided on Clemons last offseason.

He shouldn't be subject to waivers, but I'd move a late round pick (perhaps the Scobee pick) to ensure we get him.

Names that have jumped out at me (so far, per NFL.com):

 

Ravens WR DeAndre Carter (liked him out of college, but more as a returner than as a wideout)

Ravens WR Aldrick Robinson (flashed great athleticism with Washington, never lived up to it)

Panthers OT Tony Hills (veteran backup OT who could challenge Pasztor and Young for the final backup slot)

Bengals DE Sam Montgomery (liked him a lot coming out of college, but red flags involving drug use)

Dolphins S Phillip Thomas (again, liked him as a SS candidate out of college, but not sure he's any better than Loston or Evans)

Aldrick Robinson and Emmanuel Sanders were a nice duo at SMU. Surprised Robinson has not done much in the NFL.

The Lions released WR Ryan Broyles today,  after he understandably requested his release the other day.   The current coaching staff clearly didn't have confidence in Broyles,  based on his lack of opportunities last season and being far down the depth chart this summer.  

 

Most importantly,  Ryan Broyles is one of the great people in the NFL.  A class act all the way.  I wish him nothing but the best.

  One of the best Bills players since they last appeared in the Super Bowl.   I wouldn't be surprised at all if Fred Jackson ends up in their ring of honor.   Especially,  when factoring in his excellent intangibles.

Fred Jackson was a good player in Buffalo for some time, but I personally wouldn't put him in their Ring of Honor. He's not near the level of their all-time greats like Kelly, Thomas, Smith, Simpson, etc. I just can't see Fred Jackson's name being placed in Ralph Wilson Stadium next to theirs. It would be like us placing Mike Peterson or Darius in the Pride. Very good players who deserve some recognition for their time here, but not on that level.

   After the dust settled,  Seattle ended up trading Kevin Norwood to Carolina for a Conditional Draft Pick.   Maybe,  the change of scenery will jump start Norwood's NFL career.

  You make a great point and though I agree with you,  my gut feeling is Fred Jackson will one day end up in the Bills Ring of Honor.   Largely,  because of his longevity and being the most respected player on the Bills since their Super Bowl era players were no longer on the team's roster.

I've always though more teams should do what Green Bay does up here and place names in the stadium/retire numbers for PFHoF caliber players while also having a hall of fame that puts a couple very good players in every year.
