At least 3 dead after gunman opens fire at Lafayette, La. movie theater

A gunman killed two people and injured nine others late Thursday when he opened fire with a semi-automatic handgun in a Lafayette, La. movie theater before turning the weapon on himself, the city's police chief said.

And someone carrying a concealed weapon would have been able to do what exactly? Open fire in a dark theater and hope it hits it's intended target?

This movie theater did not allow guns. Just like AMC and Regal do not. There are restaurants that have the same rules. Panera, Chipotle. And stores like Toys R Us, Target and IKEA. These are businesses on private property making decisions that impact only their businesses.

Are you suggesting the government should force these businesses to allow weapons?

They would eventually run out of Charlton Heston and Clint Eastwood movies.

No I'm not suggesting that. Only that CCW holders should be able to protect themselves and their families where ever they go

Yeah, but what will they do when Zombie Hitler comes back and takes over?

Gun advocates need not worry though, we'll never see zombie hitler gun control like that here.  It's political suicide.  Just ask Peter Smith, who wound up losing to Bernie Sanders after the NRA endorsed Sanders because Smith signed the Semi-Automatic Assault Weapons act of 1989.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

DC, Chicago and Detroit counter that argument

And none of them are an Island.  Do you know how easy it is if you live in Chicago, to go out of town and get a gun?

It's no surprise that they only cite statistics on gun deaths. There are plenty of other ways to kill people.

And Australia has a different culture than the US. I don't think large drug gangs are roaming the inner cities in Australia. Drug shootings account for a large percentage of murders in the US, and almost all of the gun possessions by gang members are already in violation of the law. Adding more rules for law abiding citizens isn't going to make a difference.

I think the idea is that the shooter wouldn't choose such a place to begin with. Why try to shoot up a place where people might shoot back when there are plenty of places where the populace is defenseless?

Of course that just means that some other place will be targeted.

Well how do you think something like that could be accomplished? By the government forcing AMC, Regal and other theater chains to allow people to carry firearms despite their own company policy. Do you not get that?
