Sounds like you're unsure of how football works.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Me too. Every now and then, Ballou slips up and actually calls him that.

He should do Arbys ads.

Sen'Derick Marks should potentially be cut as well.
Why?

Can never have enough D-linemen.

It was horrible.

I'm a provolone, onions and mushrooms guy.  Pass on the cheese whiz and the green peppers are just unnecessary if enough grilled onions present.

It's true. And the DTs are typically the more heavily rotated position.  There's no reason to cut Sen'Derrick Marks. He had a respectable number of hurries last year, a bunch of tackles for loss or no gain in the run game, a batted pass, a fumble recovery and 3.5 sacks. All in limited snaps. He's a great 3Tech to spell Jackson with IMO.

I like that Sheldon Day is coming along nicely, but I still don't think they have so many DTs right now that you cut a guy like Marks.

Quote:Why?

Because much like Roy Miller. He's only managed to start in three games over the last two years due to injuries and he's looking at turning 30 this year. Should see this team continue the trend of getting younger on defense this off-season.

If they draft Allen out of Alabama he's probably out of the picture. You can never have too many defensive lineman but he's a waste of a roster spot if he can't get out on the field.

I see your point and it makes sense, but you apparently weren't paying much attention to Marks in 2016.

They used Marks to spell Jackson at 3 Tech sometimes and put him next to Jackson on 3rd down at times to rush from the usual NT spot.

Marks played on 49.9% of the defensive snaps in 2016 as a result and made an impact. He also played on 79 ST snaps. Health was not a major issue for Marks in 2016.  The "starts" stat is misleading in this instance.

edit: (drafting Allen may indeed prove your theory correct)

Fair enough. I'd love to see him return to his 2014 form. He was fun to watch that season.

That would be amazing.  He was a force before the injuries.  If he gets near that level of play again he and Jackson would make a formidable rotation/tandem at DT.

Did you ever notice Sen'Derrick Marks was active as a rotational player in many games? His lack of starts last year had nothing to do with injuries like the previous two years were. When Marks did play, he was fine.

Awesome. Dig him on ST and think his potential as a reserve WR is underappreciated.

Benn is terrific on special teams and had one of the plays of the year as a WR last year so that's good.

Glad to see they signed Benn.  He has great size for a WR and has been valuable on ST.  His personal escort service on Lee's KO return was sweet.
