I would guess most posters here are too young to have heard of him...He was a great actor...My mother even liked him and she didn't like anyone except George Strait

I thought he was great in one of my all time favorite movies: Lawrence of Arabia.   He had made a movie in Egypt, but this was his big introduction to western audiences, and his entrance could not have been more dramatic: appearing like a mirage out of the desert.
