I would venture to guess he gets 5-8. Overall, I think we will stay in the top 10 in sacks again this year...but what I want to see is more hurries/hits. We were dead last. Hopefully everyone stays healthy and it is not all on Clemons. I see Fowler getting his fair share of hurries and hits to really start getting this D line going.

Crazy how we can be 6th I believe in sacks but last in hurries/hits. Apparently we either crush you or just say hi
Quote:This was not a sexy pick for me. I'll go with the flow, but tape don't lie. He is a high motor guy that was able to expose or take advantage of weaker O-lines. Against Florida State he was man handled one on one. Yes those are some good tackles and as close to NFL caliber he had been up against. What really worries me is what seemed like a glaring issue after watching about 5 of his games...Run support. He was just not good at all, especially on the outside. He seemed to struggle making tackles in traffic. Personally, I don't expect much this season and don't believe he sees the field any more than Branch did his rookie year, if that. The learning curve may be high for this one. I look forward to him proving me wrong.

Man handled? He may not have had his best game, but was disruptive at times. If you notice at they were getting the ball out very quickly.

I stopped watching 2:45 seconds into this vid.
Looks VERY disruptive to me.

Now I just watched the full video.
Fowler looked like the best player on the field.
Not exaggerating. (I wanted Williams to be picked)
It literally seemed like Florida St. had to plan strictly around Fowler.
Yes I just quoted myself lol

Didn't sack Winston on that rush up the middle early on. Bust.
In seriousness, he looked phenomenal from what I watched of it. Consistently collapsing the pocket and causing pressure
Quote:I'm glad you used DFJ instead of DF, otherwise I'd be rather confused.
Somebody been savin' dis 1 4 A while

Man, he's fun to watch. Big and fast! Seems like such a pain in the behind to play against the whole game the way he goes all out. Fowler was disruptive this game and there were a few circumstances where he could have had even more of an impact had he not been chipped at the last second. Potential is sky high, IMO.
On another note, Dalvin Cook is a stud.
I guess he was supposed to make every sack/tackle in the game. I noticed he moves around A LOT. The only thing that bugs me is he had Winston dead to rights and failed to get him down.
I kinda get why teams do what Florida did with him, but I really have an issue with it. Running him up into gaps, fake blitzing him, different alignments on every play, I just don't get it. The guy is good. Let him put his hand in the dirt and get after the backfield. Move him around from Right to Left if you need to, that's cool, but why not just let him settle and do the thing that he is best at?
If he can manage 4 -- maybe 5 sacks and multiple "pressures" in his rookie campaign I'll feel like he's got something worthy of an early pick. (just needs time to develop)
That's assuming he gets around half of the snaps or more at LEO. More snaps should make those numbers jump up a bit.
I don't anticipate major impact in his first season, but I'd love to be wrong.
5-7 sacks from a rookie would be wildly successful, but honestly, sacks are the most overrated stat out there. If he's impacting plays and affecting the QB, I'd call that success as well. It may not show up on the stat sheet, but in reality, that's what he's here to do.

I came in to post something similar. If he's causing pressure, drawing some double teams, and just being generally disruptive, I'm not worried about how many sacks he has.
I'd rather him be consistanly disruptive than a sack hound.. Sack hounds can hit and miss too often..

Sack hounds miss too often, and they have a tendency to disappear on plays. I want a guy who is constantly creating problems for offensive linemen, rattling opposing QBs. He doesn't have to have sacks to be successful. Those are simply a byproduct of doing his job well. Fowler is a motor guy, so he SHOULD have an impact.
6 or above. Anyone who says 13 doesn't have the slightest clue about how football works.
Anybody wanna guess how many sacks DROY Khalil Mack had last year?
4.
If he can get around 8 or more, while also creating constant pressure I'll be happy.
I think Fowler's energy will fire up the rest of the line. Infectious. Especially Branch and Davis. I just feel like they all are gonna feed off of the young fellas excitement and all work really well together.
