Quote:Another top Mets pitching prospect making his debut today - Steven Matz.
Harvey, deGrom, Syndergaard, Wheeler, and Matz.
The Mets certainly have highly talented young starting pitching. Even without the injured Z. Wheeler, Yet, if they give up even two runs or sometimes even one run, it will be too much for them to overcome. It's like pulling teeth for the Mets to score runs. Not to mention, their bullpen doesn't remind anyone of most of the Yankees bullpens the last 20 years.

Degrom is a machine.
He and harvey both touch 97 consistently.
Very impressed by the mets starting pitching

They have a couple guys there coming back within the next few weeks.
They do need to acquire a bat, though. Murphy is coming back from the DL tomorrow, but just him alone won't be a difference-maker. Wright is supposedly gonna be back after the AS break, but who knows how his back will react. d'Arnaud showed he belongs, but he's another one that always gets hit with freak injuries. Grandy is coming around too. Duda and Cuddyer need to step it up. I'm not sure though there's anyone available they could realistically target, maybe except for Ben Zobrist.

There are rumors that the Mets have serious interest in Reds 3B Todd Frazier. Because Frazier has extensive experience at 1B and in the OF, I can envision Frazier and David Wright being in the Mets lineup at the same time. The # 1 question appears to be what would it cost the Mets in trade compensation to land Frazier, who already has 25 HRs?

For how long? Wright just seems like 'one of those guys' that's always hurt.

Problem with getting him is, like you said, the cost. GM Sandy Alderson has always been hesitant when it comes to trading prospects, especially pitching. Matz and/or Syndergaard would definitely have to be part of any deal.

Pirates Sweep the Tigers! On to Cleveland

Looks like the real Rays finally showed up. Good pitching but probably the worst offense in the league. I am amazed they were able to stay in first place until late June. Unfortunately, due to bad drafting by Andrew Friedman there are not any big prospects waiting to be called up. Could be a long rest of the year.

How about those Buccos?!?!?!? What a great series with two phenomenal extra inning wins in a row to close it out and take the series from the Cardinals 3-1.
The last win was the difference between 2.5 or 4.5 back. Big time!

Jon Lester's got a no-no through 7 for the Cubs. It would be cool to see him finish it out.

That Tulo trade is pretty odd.

Agreed. It came out of nowhere. I wasn't keeping up on trade rumors for all the teams but that's one I don't remember hearing a word about.

I don't get Reyes going to the Rockies. Rumors are they'll move him again before the deadline. And why does Toronto need any more run producers? Don't they already lead the league in runs scored...by a lot? Plus they give up two young, big, arms. Doesn't make much sense at face value on either side.
07-28-2015, 03:30 PM
Yeah, I'd bet money that Reyes is being flipped. No reason to block Trevor Story in Colorado.
Tulo has a terrible history of lower body injuries. One would think playing on that Toronto turf is just asking for trouble.
