Fact: most of the founders were mainline Christians. Washington, John Adams, and about 35 signers of the Declaration fit here.
Fact: those that were not were mostly Deists, not Agnostic. Payne, Franklin, and Jefferson in particular fit here.
Fact: Most people in the colonies at the time were part of the Christian subculture as they are in the USA today.
Fact: a country created by mostly Christians is not necessarily a Christian country.
And that's probably all I should say on the matter.
