Quote:You don't bump a grade down for signing an upgrade.. ever..That's stupid..
Especially last years rushing leader.
A solid 'A' from me. Love the JT signing, really like the House addition and the others are good as well. Lots of potential.

Quote:I agrees! No Murray for me, I'd bump the grade down if we get Murray.
Bump it down? How so? You think he'll hurt the team. Not give any improvement in the run game? Sure, there are some risks, but with the wins this team has accumulated over the past few years, those risks have to be taken.

At least , in your case, the grade shouldnt fluctuate.

But for now, its all a moot point. He ain't lined up behind Blake just yet
Quote:So far, compared to what this club is used to as opposed to FA?

A-

Add Murray? A+

I'd say A as well.  And I'm on the Murray train now too.  Thomas+Murray combined have more touchdowns than the entire Jaguars offense last year.

I give it an A. Brought in an elite player in Julius. Love how the rest of the signings are young players with potential instead of old, washed up vets with name recognition.

Gotta say, I am very impressed with the front office. They are signing young players who fit the scheme. It may not all work out, but at least we see a clear direction and philosophy being followed. Plus we have been able to bring in most of our targets. Gus must have busted out the premium stuff during his pitch, perhaps even the Blue Bell...
Sergio Brown WHOO! Like that isigning a lot.

Campannari 6 pints $100  ^
A solid B . Committed to the philosophy . May have paid a bit much for ascending players but definitely upgrading the team and looking good. welcome the draft
A bit too early for a grade from me. Just like grading a draft a day after it happened, too much is unknown for a grade to be nothing more than a guess. Unlike a draft class, however, three years is not needed to determine the success of a free agent group. They should be contributing in the first year.

Yes. Way too early to know if these guys make us better.  I was just trying to gauge whether folks are pleased with Caldwell's initial efforts -  since we knew money was about to be spent - and many posters had a "wishlist."
Personally I am feeling this is all bad, overpaying for way to many question marks and depth players. I wouldn't be suprised we have a new GM in a year or two.

I gave it an A.

Julius Thomas is a great addition to our team. Davon House will be a future CB.1/2. Jared Odrick could possibly start if not he will defintley be in rotation. Jermey Parnell is our starting RT, Dan Skuta is our new OTTO LB, Sergio Brown S/T "WOOOOOOO".

So we gain 4 starters out of 6 and a great special teamer so far. Possibly 5 if Odrick gets the nod.

Excited to see who else we grab.

Oh, okay. In that regard, it seems Caldwell is doing a good job targeting need, so far. And to me, that's what free agency is for. And knowing that it is close to impossible for any single GM to land every player needed and available, it is hard for me to hold any players missed out on against the GM.
Quote:Yeah, who wants young, ascending players from stacked teams!
Role players who can become starters.  It is not guaranteed

What grade would you give last year? I thought A- at the time but after a year and seeing their roles for 2015, it's hard to grade it better than a D. I'm sold on Julius deal but lukewarm on the rest. No thanks on Murray for me also. Draft is loaded this year and it will cost about 20 cents on the dollar compared to what Murray will command.
This thread feels like one of Gus's ice cream cake party bashes.  Thomas is the only real starter we signed.  The rest are hopefuls that may turn out to be good but it's a 50/50 shot.

C so far.  They are spending the money but most of the names they signed are head scratchers.
