Quote:Look at his use of the president's name. That should tell you all you need to hear. Right = Real Americans, Left = traitors it's pretty simple.

In all honesty I didnt even know that's what he was getting at, whatever happened to the classics like Odumbo or Obummer

Yet the Right is the one that wants to secede...

You forgot emperor, dear leader, antichrist, Hitler, Mao, commie.

Those were taken by the Left for Bush43.

And if you don't get Oblahblah then I question whether you've ever actually watched an Obama speech.

Not that the last 3 presidents have done much in the way of speechifying either.

Good, that means I'm clearly not of the right then, as I've been accused repeatedly by folks here who claim to not be on the left.

Lol a few fringe groups represent the right? That's no more accurate than the whole the left hates America propaganda. For the record there's been plenty of left socialist groups that have displayed the desire to withdraw from American oversight and authority, it's hardly a right exclusive idea.

These are the same people leading the right that claimed if you didn't support the president you hated america, were traitors or a myriad of other bullet points for rush and his ilk. Now they do the same thing and are hailed as heroes? What the what?

I don't think succession is either attainable nor an actually thing wanted by anything more than a fringe group of southerners. Vocal minorities at work that gets media clicks is all that is I think.

Can't bold on mobile but I liked speechifying.

Its a common tactic of the right to attempt to bellitle the president with wordplay of his name. I'm sure you can see how I interpreted it that way.

It's a common tactic in politics, dont' try to assign it to one side or the other. Remember "Raygun Ronnie" or "The Peanut Man". maybe the Klutz on Saturday Night Live?

I don't disagree the right vilifies and calls out the patriotism of the left on a regular basis. I'll even say the majority of the right do that, but the majority of the right in no way shape or form calls nor supports secession. If anything it's the very fringe that even see it as an option, it's no where near mainstream. That was my point saying the right wants to seceded is as accurate as saying the left isn't patriotic.

I actually don't remember any of these? Maybe I was too young. I only vaguely recall caring about politics remotely during Bush 1.

I agreed with you, it's a silly notion that it is a populist ideal outside of maybe remote regions of Texas. At least, that seems to be where the majority of the talk comes from.

It's usually Texas, I know a few backwoods types that talk about it but Texas is organized and serious about it.

About the only president who didn't ever have some type of this thing was Washington, but that was only because he was almost universally revered and had no predeccessor.

Well, they are the only state that really was their own country before they joined up.

The only thing I remember about Bush 1 (I'm too young for that) was "I don't like Broccoli" and "Read My Lips:  Go To Texas."

Clinton was always Slick Willie and Bubba. Everyone also made fun of him for his "Definition of is" and "I did not have sexual relations, with that woman."

Bush was always called Dubya.

Maybe it's just the righties I know, but they tend to want a revolution.  (And I only know one person from Texas, and they're a liberal)

Not in any of our lifetimes

I never thought of Dubya as an insult. Everyone I know even righties called him that due to the W....

That came off wrong, I didn't mean Texas as a whole is serious and organized, I meant the fringe groups are serious and organized. I don't expect any of the states to break off either, that's not what I meant.

I can imagine there being some backwoods type in the hills of Virgina. Certainly not representative of the right keep in mind.
