A true Redzone threat is exactly what the Jags need. We have speed/skill on the outside, but when we are 5 and in having JThomas would be incredible for Blake. I hope this happens.

Julius Thomas would be a nice upgrade. Jags need a TE who can go deep and bring it in.

We basically need touchdown scorers. Redzone threat is half of that, but we also need someone who can get behind the defense and catch a 40 yd TD pass. It's possible Robinson and Lee could be some of that. But to me, increasing touchdowns is the #1 priority.

Any chance we sign Thomas and keep Marcedes?

Only if he's willing to take a backup role.

I'll take Julius Thomas and Jesse James.

Marcedes wouldn't have a choice. He is still under contract for another year. I would have no issue with 2 tight end sets of Lewis and Thomas.

Does Lewis carry any trade value?
Obviously this assumes he would agree to a contract extension with his new team, but maybe a team like the Cardinals? Lewis would be close to home and play for a winner and the Cards could use an upgrade over Carlson.
Maybe compensation could be along the lines of a draft day trade that moves the Jags up a dozen picks or so from rd 3 to 2 or rd 4 to 3?

I'm hoping he restructures his contract because i do think there is a spot for him on this team. Run some 2 TE sets with him and Maxx/Julius which could help protect Blake but at the same time give the defense a different look.

I think the main reason for his lack of trade value is his contract. I think if he were to extend his contract and structure is so that the Jags will eat some of the money, a tight end needy team that lacks the money to sign one of this years free agents, like the Cardinals, would have some interest.

When the team signs a veteran tight end in free agency, Marcedes is toast.

No chance a team trades for him.

Hes still a big TE that can block and catch some

Time to overpay for another Manning teammate that looks great because of his QB but turns out to be average or above average at best.
