So glad the armchair defensive line coachs on here have given up the " he's good because he does absolutely nothing " act.

My response was to quote your own post where you said that being a backup on a losing team makes you below average which I noticed you ignored in hopes it wouldn't be noticed.  So not only do you not know what a below average player is, you don't even know how to follow your own thread!  Good work, genius.

Way to contribute with your thoughtful intellect. #useless

It happens. I can think of a few right off the bat. If you were to take a few moments to research it, you would most likely come up with a few yourself.
Why are we worrying about a backup defensive end?   If we re-sign the guy, it will be for backup DE money.  Then he has to make the 53 man roster.   So why are we so focused on this one guy?   Why not debate every backup player?   What's so special about Tyson Alualu that he incites such dislike?

Why all the concern with losing Tyson Alualu in Free Agency?

I think it is because there has become a culture of losing in the minds of Jaguar fans and they hate the idea of losing anything or anyone.

I can't understand how losing Tyson Alualu in Free Agency is any more significant than losing Cecil Shorts, but apparently JagNation has already come to terms with that loss, and now they are struggling with coming to terms with the loss of another high draft choice.

What should be learned from this, is that Gene Smith essentially DESTROYED this Franchise and if the team is to be cured of the CANCER of Gene Smith's influence, then his draft selections need to be sent packing.

Alualu has long since become a rotational depth guy.  If we were talking about a legitimate starter here, that's one thing.  Any hope of him becoming that guy evaporated when he injured his knee in his rookie training camp.  They have continued to try to find a spot for him over the past few years, and he has continued to demonstrate he's just a guy.  If he's not re-signed, odds are the loss isn't even noticed.

He's just a guy who's probably not going to get any decent offers anywhere else and is gonna come back here for 'just a guy' money. I don't mind him coming back if it's a low risk contract
Not losing sleep over a 3rd string DT.  Just reminds me of the incompetence of Gene Smith.  Every time I see his name I just think, how did we pick this clown over JPP.

That knee injury is such a cop out. You've seen the video of the Oklahoma where he was " injured " right?

He was fine.

Edit. It's on youtube.

Edit. I found it for you. Here's the "injury" Alualu sustained that ruined his chance at being a "legitimate starter".

Do you always obsess over backups?

Only terrible ones.

Funny, the guy everyone said was "obsessed" with Alualu turned out to be right.

Maybe you should start obsessing more often.

He was fine? He eventually needed microfracture surgery.

He also went on to start for 3 years as a defensive lineman in the NFL.

I'm not saying he wasn't injured and I'm sorry that he did get hurt, but I doubt it held him back from being a "legitimate starter".

But you did say that. Maybe you should go back and re-read your post.

You don't think a microfracture hindered his chances of being a much better player? C'mon now

I doubt he would've ever lived up to a top 10 selection but to say that his injury didn't play a huge factor in his career is pretty ignorant IMO.

About him being hurt? I know he got hurt, people don't get knee surgeries for fun.

What I meant to say was that I think people blow the whole Oklahoma Knee Crisis WAY out of proportion.

Watch the video. He seemed fine to me. He was fine enough to play/train for 3 years after, which would be weird for this career altering injury that took place.

Watch the video. He acted like he was fine.
And Sam Bradford walked around the sidelines in preseason this year and thought he was fine too..... Tore his ACL.

Marcus Stroud played after his microfracture too, just nowhere close to the same level as he did before the procedure.

If you don't consider that procedure as career altering, tell me of a lineman or skill position player that didn't suffer a huge dropoff in production after they had that procedure.
