Quote:The long run by Foster was hilarious today.  Cyprien runs right into a blocker with a horrible angle then Evans gets punk slapped down to the ground.  Sums up our secondary play all year.

Time to replace Evans and Cyprien.  Cyp looks the part but plays like reggie nelson did here in Jacksonville.
The long run by Foster was blown by both linebackers who got pushed like twigs right out the play. JT Thomas and T.Smith. Both of them blew it big time. Doesn't Cyprien lead the team in tackles? He shouldn't be leading the team in tackles. If our front line is broken, the linebackers miss and Cyprien has to do it, over and over and over.  It's always Marks or Bryant or Clemons making the tackles, and if not, it's Cyprien as his stats show, and which this fine poll and stat chart did not mention. Yes part of that is his job as well as covering, but the man is severely hampered playing behind a couple of linebackers who get pummeled every run play. Cyprien is not the problem with our defense.

Go rewatch the game...Cyp was horrible too, the LBs and Cyp stunk at plugging the gaps.  It's obvious you have a Cyp mancrush.
Banatha must be related to Cyprien.

Dude, he sucks.  Get over it.  Anyone looking at the game objectively can tell you Cyprien is bad.

I'd gladly take Dawan Landry over him any day of the week.

Did the linebackers get pushed out of the run spoken of or not? Did either LB make any real effort getting off the block, yes or no?

Does Cyprien lead the team in tackles? That's a problem for a secondary man.

I have no man crush, but it's the linebackers job on runs and they are beyond horrible. Smith who some have a real man crush on is too light to play the run, and Thomas just avoids contact.

I call it like I see it.

Please Know what you are talking about and understand football before you question my assessment.

1. The only reason why he leads the team is because how much he has been on the field.  The normal leader for tackling are your LB's and if poz did not get hurt he would easily lead in this stat.  The LB crew has been changed up so many times nobody on there has played close to the amount of time as Cyprien.

2. On the run Cyprien is a Safety.  His job is to let nobody behind him.  He simply tried to make a play on the runner and again took a horrible angle.  He might be one of the worst open field tacklers I have every seen.  Horrible angle is his consistent specialty.

3. Cyprien is a liability in the run and passing game. He can't cover and is often out of position while he is a horrible tackler getting to the ball carrier.  In all he sucks
Who fell over on the slant across the middle? That was bad
Cyprien was taken out of that play with what might have been an illegal block. It wasn't that bad.

Evans got absolutely embarrassed by Foster.

That was a misfit on the LB, but yes he should have cleaned it up. Also, you realize Cyp and Nelson played two different positions right? He isn't playing lights out, but this board is expecting him to play the role of a free safety. He leads the team in tackles and comes in for run support like a Strong Safety should. He's essentially another LB. He actually played better this game.

You realize Cyp has better stats this year (61 tck/21 ast) versus (52 tck/31 ast) and played two less games.

he played better?

I guess he didn't have a completely blown coverage - so I guess partially you're right.

He did, however, continue making terrible angles and allowing Foster to run wild.

He had Foster not even moving, 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage, and completely whiffs and allows Foster to score on 4th and 1.

An average safety makes that play - the D line did their job.... Cyprien didn't do his.

lol this guy is looking at tackling stats

And? He's a strong safety. What's your point?
Still in the camp that it be too early to label him yet. But, it sure is not looking good right now. He is missing alot of coverage and tackles. He doesn't look good.

If I remember right, this was actually the play Tyson got washed to the inside instead of contain.

how many tackles does he make that a typical safety can't make?

how many big plays does he make?  how many FF, fumbles recovered, sacks, broken up passes has he made?

I remember Cyprien diving at Foster's ankles - and whiffing.
He hasn't flashed a single time this year. He'll make the occasional tackle at the line if scrimmage, but that's it.

Cyprien has been really bad.

That being said, on Forster's long run, I'm pretty sure Cyprien filled his gap to a fault. Earlier in the season he got burned by trying to help out in other gaps and a runner broke a long run to his gap. Today, it appeared Telvin got absolutely blown out of his gap (a or b- can't remember) and Cyprien adhered to his gap (b or c) when it appeared he just missed his.

I'm about 95% sure this is what happened, but the point that he has been a big disappointment remains.
i was a big supporter but his play is getting pretty inexcusable.
