Quote:Wait, so Cyprien, drafted as high as he was, isn't supposed to be a big play, impact player?
Theres a difference between a big play impact player and a solid starter.  I consider JJ Watt to be a big play impact player.  How many of those are running around in the NFL? If Cyprien is a solid NFL starter, then thats perfectly okay with the 33rd pick.  If you expect picks, FF, and TDs every game, then thats expecting way too much.
0 interceptions. 0 sacks. 0 forced fumbles. 0 fumbles recovered. 1 pass defensed. That is what Jonathan Cyprien has done this year.

Quote:Can you stop. He's a safety. He's expected to make plays. Kam Chancellor plays the exact same role as Cyprien, go check out what he's doing in Seattle. Cyprien makes no plays, routinely gets shrugged off by ballcarriers and overruns his assignments. He is a bad safety. Jonathan Cyprien is bad at football. The sooner you accept that the sooner you will find inner peace.

Quote:Um, Kam in his worst season is still far better than anything Cyprien has ever done. I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
Are you talking bout 2012?

When Kam had 70 tackles, 0 sacks, 0 ints, 4 passes deflected and 1 forced fumble?

Quote:Like this is the same as Bortles. Jaguars fans have watched the Jaguars for so long that so many have forgotten what good football players actually look like, and how far players like Cyprien are from actually being productive NFL starters.

Quote:2014 Kam Chancellor

65 tackles

1 stuff

0 sacks

1 forced fumble

4 passes defended

1 int

I guess Kam isn't Kam either.

Just an observation...
Kam is a strong safety.  He is not Earl Thomas, so I do not understand why you are using passes defensed and ints to prove to me that he is a good player.  Kam is a good player, that is what I am trying to say.  If Cyp were to be a Kam, would you be happy?
Quote:Nope, 33rd picks are supposed to be in-the-box players who can't stop the run.
This is his biggest problem. He over purses and whiffs on too many tackles.  In pursuit he is extremely bad with taking the worst possible angle.
Don't let the homers fool you into thinking SS cannot make plays.

A good SS can sack the qb, make some int, break up some passes, make tackles behind the LOS, or make crucial tackles.  This guy does neither.

33rd picks are supposed to be reliable starters.  Take that for what you will.  Impact players are supposed to come from the Top 15 part of the draft.
Kam has 2 sacks, 8 ints and 4 Forced fumbles in his 5 year career.

Even when you discount his rookie season, that's still paltry for 4 season...

Is he asked to blitz? And he is ranked 26th in the NFL in combined tackles, you are telling me none of them have been crucial or behind the LOS?

He actually has 8 forced fumbles and oh yes... 28 passed defended. Which strong safeties can't do. And for some reason you see these stats and don't see how ridiculously far ahead of Cyprien he is?

Cyprien has 1 sack, 2 FF, 1 INT, and 7 passes defended. These are the numbers you are trying to defend.

he's a decent player. nothing spectacular ..

I'm probably way off base and remembering incorrectly, but I thought Cyp started the season very very strong...

After his concussion is when I started noticing a drop off.

The last month has been bad for him.

But he held his own against Gates, Miller and Cameron.
Cyp isn't fit to carry DD's jock strap.  Hopefully he gets better, but you can't teach 'he good'

We can quote stats all we want on either side, but frankly, if you watch the game, I don't know how you can think he is playing well this year.  Maybe he'll get better next year, but that 50 yd rush by Foster just made me cringe as I see Cyp run right by him without even trying to tackle him.

HE'S AWFUL!!!!

That last drive was pitiful by Cyp.
He's so consistent at missing tackles
He DID have a pass breakup. I believe his 2nd pass breakup this season.
