Quote:True, shows that he is a bit more conservative with the ball, but the way Blake is tossing up picks, we somewhat need that.  Of course this year is a pass for Bortles, but man, I've been fairly unimpressed.  I remember watching the bowl game of UCF vs Baylor, and the announcer kept talking about how he hoped Bortles returned for another year to clean up some things.  I think he was spot on with that.  But if Bortles doesn't end up being our franchise QB, I really don't ever want us to take a QB in the first round again.

Carr has a very strong arm, as I recall though. Being overly conservative with a strong-armed QB is not a good look imo. Still, I think everyone who's watched him play will vehemently agree that Blake needs to be more careful with the football, but not just for the sake of not throwing picks. I've watched every snap he's taken and I am fairly impressed personally and very excited to watch him progress, but I am not going to deign to claim you're wrong for seeing things differently. He definitely needs a bit of refinement, but I can't help but think we have a potentially great QB under center.
Can somebody tell me in what universe Derek Carr is playing good football right now?

If they do tell you that then i'll tell them that they don't know freakin football.

Without seeing him play, I think the only qualifiers here are that he's thrown more TD passes and fewer picks...

Nevermind the fact that the Bortles has been playing for a dumpster fire of a team that's only just recently starting to put together NFL quality efforts and Bortles has almost a full yard more per attempt than Carr.

If the Jaguars wanted someone to throw short a whole lot and look good in the TD/INT ratio they could go back to 2011/2012 Gabbert. Is that really what anyone wants?

I think Bortles returned to what was expected of the teams brass after having a ridiculous preseason.  This is good to hear.  I think they knew, but the casual fan had inflated expectations after Bortles blew the doors off!
