Quote:We are running out of crap to talk about....

This
2 pick 6s.  1 fumble in the red zone (or very close to it) while we were driving and looking like we were going to score...  1 blocked FG.  One missed FG.  One FG attempt that was called back and we had to punt instead...

I don't think you can hang this loss on the coaches so much as you can lay it on execution.  You may say that the coaches are also responsible for the execution.  But I can't.

Man, this is like the t'acks game.  We should have won it.  With all the criticism the coaches have gotten, some of it rightly so, I can't say that we lost this game because of poor playcalling or poor clock management, or poor scheming.  It was the players that lost this game -specifically the offense and special teams.

Quote:First of all, offensive coordinators are hired and fired by head coaches, so we can only talk about Gus Bradley here.

Second, I hope TMD never sees this thread when he comes back.

To answer your question, I definitely do not want Rex Ryan. We are built to run a base 4-3 defense, so hiring him would break this rule: "If it's not broke, don't fix it."

Lol, I love how everything's so black and white to you. While pathetic, it's at least consistent.
Hypothetically, if an asteroid impact were to explode Everbank Field what stadium could we get to replace it and which players could we get to replace our disintegrated by asteroid blasted players? Maybe we could start with Russel Wilson since it rains so much in Seattle and you can really tell he is a hair guy. Maybe we could get all the other players that Caldwell cut that are dominating the league elsewhere to come back. Once we reassemble our team they would be so awesome as to not even need coaches. I mean since all the good coaches actually take the fields and make the plays for their players I say skip that part and just have our players make the plays. We could save a lot of you peoples money that way.

The only draw back would be that the server that holds all this compiled football acumen that is The Jaguars message board could be destroyed eliminating all the known fixes for our team. All these brilliant threads of wisdom , Oh the humanity.

You know what I tell my kid?  We don't do "what if..." questions.

This is the bad thing about being eliminated so early.  One day we'll be looking at the standing in October and looking at what needs to happen to get to the playoffs.  We "should" be looking at matchups vs Cinci but when you have 1 win in the past 2 years in the months of Sept & Oct we tend to make up fictional scenarios to entertain ourselves until we can do mock drafts.

On topic --- I honestly don't know what Gus and company could have done differently in the past 2 weeks with the existing roster.  We're young and would have probably beaten Miami if not for the pic 6's.

On topic w/ hypothetical answer -- Mike Gundy (HC @ OK State) .... he can room with Justin Blackmon.

I think we bring back Mularkey for another run. With a name like that, he deserves a 2nd chance. Then he can stop putting pins in his Khan doll.

On the topic of 2nd chances .... Coughlin.

TC is getting up there in age and I doubt he still has the passion to see a rebuild all the way through.

First, I hope TMD doesn't come back at all.

Second, Bradley isn't going anywhere after this season.  The OC might be replaced but Bradley gets one more year.
I don't believe we should fire Gus Bradley so soon. If it were to happen I would love to see Jim Harbaugh walk away from 49ers and join the Jags. Move Bradley to DC

I don't think you can just fire a HC and "move" him to DC. If Bradley got fired, I'm sure he would take a DC job on a different team.
Quote:If we fired Gus after this season, there would be no point in concerning yourself with top candidates because they will have no interest working in this unstable environment.

Instead we should be asking if Gus were fired, what head coaching reject would be desperate enough to sign on with us.

Clearly we need experience, so I'd hire Josh McDaniels as HC, Lane Kiffen to run the offense and Steve Spagnuolo as Asst HC/DC

The problem with that is then you as Bradley are putting your job in the hands of a new OC hoping that your team can absorb a new offense and the new guy works out.

Good point.
For the record, I like Gus and Fisch and I don't think/want them to be fired at all.

But with that said, I'll throw a name out there...

Gary Kubiak. Might not be a popular name in these parts, but has an offensive background and plenty of HC experience.

Quote:Who's the top coaching candidates available? I'd prefer to go with somebody whos done it before instead of a rookie coach, but I don't know of any available.. I'm not saying we should fire Gus but i'm just trying to find out who would even replace him?

I know it's a hypothetical, but there is absolutely no way Gus or Jedd get fired, none, zero, zilch. They've done a good job considering the youth on this team, especially on offense. If this team could limit its turnovers and score a few more points, we blowout the Titans, Steelers, and Dolphins, we're not that far away, if the offense keeps progressing this a team no one wants to play against.

We would be like the Browns no stability bottom feeder for another 50 years.

Good call, though his health might be an issue.

You know, if those 3 opponents had been weeks 1 - 3, and those games turned out exactly the same, we'd not hear any of this "Fire Gus" garbage. We'd be an optimistic 0-3 team.
