Quote:You know, if those 3 opponents had been weeks 1 - 3, and those games turned out exactly the same, we'd not hear any of this "Fire Gus" garbage. We'd be an optimistic 0-3 team.

The only games (Imo) where we absolutely stunk was Washington and Indianapolis, I was a bit nervous about the direction of this team after facing those two opponents. Besides that you're right, this a team fans should feel optimistic about, we competed against a very good San Diego team on the west coast, and should've beaten the Steelers, Titans, and Dolphins. The Jaguars are an ascending team with a young talented roster, the potential on field product in 2015 after another FA and draft class should scare teams in the AFC.

Whoever that is brought in would fail because there's would then be a lack of patience within the franchise; such as within the fan base. Nobody could turn around this franchise with the shape it was/is in in two years. Everyone thinks it's easy to plug-in-play players, spend all your cap on FA's, and hit on every draft pick; while having the youngest roster of players, having them gel together overnight, and play mistake free/elite football from day one. Mostly everyone was supportive of Gus last year and the strides made during the season. Mostly everyone was excited for the players drafted and some (not all) FA's picked up. Mostly everyone was good with the team having a plan. Now that we continue to lose, a lot of people are now calling for the heads of everyone. I'm surprised we're not screaming for a new owner; because he's the one that hired Caldwell and approved Gus. Where's the accountability? However, as tough it is to keep losing (and we've been losing a long time now), we can't combine the previous losing seasons with the one's now. Just as our young QB must forget those pick-six INTs; we must forget those previous crappy seasons. We see the progress our team is making right now. The defense is actually playing very well. Way better than the beginning of the season. Why? Because of so many new players and young players learning to play with each other. THIS TAKES TIME!! The offense actually gets first downs!! :O Move them chains, move them chains, move them chains, move em'! It's getting there. But we're not even close to being there because of still missing pieces and so many young players. Does Gus makes some mistakes? Does Fisch (2nd and 2 and we throw it....)? Yes. But to be calling for the head of Caldwell and Gus this early in the process is ridiculous. I know this post was hypothetical, but to bring it up means people are thinking it. And we know who want it. There comes a point in time where we have to trust the process and see it through. We can't just keep continuing to call for firings after a few lousy seasons. This season isn't over and I can see the improvement. I still think the only time to question the coaching staff and heading of the team would be next year; or possibly the year after. Even if we end up 2-14 or 1-15; I think we still have to give the process time. Otherwise, it's starting the rebuilding process all over (which is why we are where we are. Well that and Gene whiff blowing our draft picks). We never give enough time for the process to complete.........

GO JAGS!!

Quote:He wont be back with a 3 win season. We need at least 4. And it may not end up being a shad decision.... It could be a "save your own [BAD WORD REMOVED]" move by caldwell. And in fairness, i think 2 years isnt enough time to judge a gm.

However, as a coach, your team shouldnt tread water, or even regress from a 4 win season. Regardless of talent, you would expect to see some sort of improvement. And while the defense has gotten better, it shouldnt take 6 weeks to show signs of life.

You real tight with Shad? He has you over to the house all the time? How do you enjoy his boat? If it's not a Shad decision - what, it's your's?

You can have any silly opinion you wish - but those opinions stated as facts just make you sound ... slow.
I'm still wondering at this point why Rex Ryan's name was even mentioned in this thread.

jvillejagsn1 -- do you really think the people on this board have the discipline to read through what appears to be the longest paragraph that's ever been written?

I thought I was.  But I fizzled out after about 4 words.  I'm not disappointed though.

LOL! Good point. In hindsight, no. But maybe it will help our fan base out with gaining such discipline Wink
Quote:If Fisch is fired.. that'd be a different question.  Some firings could open up the OC possibilities.

To replace Fisch, I'd take Bears HC Marc Trestman, who'll be fired on account of Cutler. Fisch runs too much of a horizontal, gimmicky offense based on zone-running, bootlegs, and other finesse garbage. I'd rather have a play-action OC like Hue Jackson or Norv Turner running the offense. But Trestman is the best bet to be cut loose.
I like that D coordinator for Denver.

If Gus were fired, he would be the top coaching candidate.
LOL not really

I'd like Trestman a lot if he's fired by the Bears.
I think the fact that the rams are better than us with Austin Davis should throw up red flags
I dont see how shad can look at the rams, the titans, the redskins, and not realize just how bad this team is coached.

We are worse than all those teams... And all but fisher are in their first year

Current record may "prove" your point, but I don't think that I would say at this point that the Jaguars are a worse team at this point.  Less experienced?  Yes.
I'm fine with Bradley getting another year but OC needs to be upgraded. I hope they make a change this offseason and bring in a different system. Preferably a guy that has experience and is associated with success at the NFL level. Fisch can take his offense back to college where it belongs.
Fisch will get picked up as a HC before he gets fired.

Bingo! I'd take Del Rio back in a heartbeat right about now

That's fine just as long he's not running the offense next year I don't care where he ends up. I hope he does get a HC job, I've got nothing against him I just don't care for his offense. I want him to succeed but I don't see that happening here.
