The Dolphins are proving to be one heck of a gritty team. They started out blockbusters with a win over the Pats then took a two-week slide, but since then they've been playing lights out. We seen in the past how tough it is to get back-to-back wins, and with Poz suddenly out we'll need to figure out how we're going to cope defensively. Honestly I just can't envision the Jaguars winning this next game. It may be a while until we actually ink another W.

With the run defense playing as stifling as it has been the past few weeks, I feel we can shut Lamar Miller down.  He's been averaging less than 4 a carry the past 2 weeks.  Tannehill seems like the type of player that wilts under pressure.  If the front 4 bring it early and often, we can force field position and possible turnovers.  The Dolphins o-line has only given up 10 sacks so far, so we need to hit them hard and often.

I'm enjoying the win until Sunday, when we probably get beat. No Poz is no bueno.

We need to get more INT's.

To beat the Dolphins on Sunday, this team will have to force at least 3 or 4 turnovers, IMO

No more, "she's just having a bad day"
Jags will need to get constant pressure on Tannyhill early. If they let the Phins move the ball down the field game over.

Agreed. The biggest question for us is how the defense will perform under J.T. Thomas.
The change at MLB will be a factor since the dolphins rank very near the browns in rushing yds per game.  We will likely see a similar strategy from the Jags of shutting down the run and making the QB beat you while (hopefully) under pressure some of the time. Hopefully the Jags can be nearly as effective with this strategy, but that's a big question mark as they will be facing a better O-line.

I certainly don't think they can hold the phins to 6 points, but they could certainly keep them under 20. So the question becomes -  can the Jags hang 20+ on the scoreboard against a defense that's allowing 213 yds per game through the air and  about 100 per game on the ground?

It's "winnable" but it'll take a much better game from Blake, a big job filling shoes by JT Thomas, another step forward by the O-line and the running game and finally a repeat performance by the surging defense.  Not an easy task, but hey, maybe this team is turning a corner.  Will be very telling of our "progress" to see how competitive this game turns out to be.

I'll be very surprised if get a Touchdown against the dolphins, we're not winning this game

I fully expect this to look like the team that came out the first 3 weeks, unprepared, out of assignments.. all that good stuff

they're on way to much of a high road after a single win, the dolphins will come in here as focused as the jags were vs the browns and Gus will be back on the hottest seat in the NFL

just being real

We should beat MIA.

Offensively, I see this as a tough matchup against the Dolphins.  Bortles is capable but still a rookie. The receivers are capable but still rookies, going up against two solid, experienced CBs in Finnegan and Grimes.Cameron Wake can really rush the passer.

However, now that Denard Robinson has come off of a 100 yard game, I wonder how much more effective play action passing will be early on.

Defensively, I think we match up better against their offense.

Their running game doesn't really scare me.

Charles Clay concerns me a good deal, though.

I think we can win the game. Going into last week I'm sure there were lots of people who would have said the Browns were better than the Fins, with wins against the Saints and Steelers and their losses only being by a collective 5 points. While the Dolphins had been blown out twice. Missing Moreno doesn't help them.

As long as we don't let Tannehill pick us apart like he did against the Bears we've got a good shot at this. Bortles just needs to play smart and we could use a repeat performance from Robinson.

It'll also be my first game at Everbank Field, so I'll be doing my best to cheer the team on. Smile

Quote:No, the reason we won was not poor play by the Browns. It was finally coming together on defense to do what we have been practicing for weeks and taking advantage of the opportunities they gave us.

Tbh, a lot of the reasons we won is because of how bad the Browns we played, we only really capitalised on 3 bad plays but that's all that matters I guess.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer, but some people on this board need to calm down after this win, right now I am not optimistic at all about our chances next week. Just a realist
I think Smith is gonna be fast enough to catch a QB like Tannehill napping. He might pick another one off.

The defense played with some fire this past sunday. If they can carry that same momentum into the Phins game, we will be in the game. It'll be up to Bortles and the offensive line to carry us to the win. The Phins do have a solid defense with a good pass rush. I expect it to be competitive.

Quote:Miami is 5th in the NFL in rushing so I'm not for sure where you get your info. Coaching has been questionable at times. QB play has been a roller coaster. Defense is #1 in yards allowed per play. Offense is generating more points per game than over half the league. I sure am not overlooking the Jaguars. Just keeping it real.

Exactly.  I wouldn't look at the fish and say "hey another Browns team".  They run it well.  Tannehill has been playing really well the last 3 weeks.  Their defense is legit.  Their main issue is consistency.  Almost a jeckyl/hyde type of team as far as who shows up and for how long.

Hopefully Tannehill has one of those games where people wonder if he can continue to be the starter.

If our offense can keep progressing then we've got a real shot at them though.  Bortles needs to cut out the turnovers in opponent territory.  Last week left a minimum of 6 (2 fg's) or maximum of 14 (2 td's) on the field because of int's.  If those are cut out then our game last week is even more of a blowout.  That's going to need to happen to a certain degree in order for us to be in the game this weekend.

Looking forward to it.

Kind of agree a little bit. Hoyer was pressed all day but he also missed some wide open targets (Cameron in the end zone) which would have made the game closer.

I hope we do the same thing with Tannehill this week. Get to him early and often.

You're not "being real"; you're just being an [BAD WORD REMOVED].

We'll gloss over the last 3 1/2 weeks of play and call out the team for playing like the first 3 weeks. Though I'm sure if the Jags lose a close game or just flat out win, you'll be nowhere to be found.

Just keepin it real.

Pro Tip: Being down on "your team" every week is not intelligent, insightful, or "real". It's cliche, boring, and played out. It's the sports equivalent of being a hipster. You're not impressing anyone.

The Jags have 5 wins in the last 23 games and people need to "calm down" after the Jags beat a team with a winning record and a top 3 rushing attack?

Miami is currently a 4.5 point favorite. The over/under is 43.
