Quote:The Jags have 5 wins in the last 23 games and people need to "calm down" after the Jags beat a team with a winning record and a top 3 rushing attack?

[Image: jennifer-lawrence-oh-yeah-thumbs-up.gif]

I meant calm down about people thinking how good we are just because of one win. By all means celebrate but like Gus said, one day of celebrating. Even after that win we're 1-6 not really much to celebrate as of yet, accept mediocrity and that's what you'll get.
Quote:The Dolphins are a really puzzling team. They beat some good teams and have lost to some teams who IMO aren't as talented as they are... They were talking about benching their starting QB a few weeks ago, now he's playing well and all is great again... I'm not really sure how good they are, TBH, but what I do know is their defense is pretty good. That doesn't bode well for us, as our o-line is still struggling at times and our rookie QB is struggling. All signs point to us losing, but Tannehill can be hot and cold. Just depends on what kind of day we catch him on.

Dolphin fans have also been howling about their head coach.... he sucked, now he's great again, next week he will be great, then he'll suck.... it's really getting old

Ok, I've been through this board today and yesterday.  I haven't seen much of anybody talking about how good we are.  I've seen people talk about what players played lights out last weekend.  Nobody has said that we're a great team.  But optimism is warranted when you start to see progression turn into a win.  That's what happened last week.  It might happen again this weekend.  You don't know, just like I don't know.  But it doesn't do anybody any good to call the optimists idiots.  Get off your pedestal.

Despite beating the Browns by 18, there hasn't been a single post that's claimed we'll make the post-season or the Super Bowl. There's been less than a handful claiming we'll even finish upwards of 6 wins, and most of those have been tongue-in-cheek.

It's called being happy that there are tangible signs of progress, that the faith of the fans and the effort of the players has paid off, if only for one week. It's called taking joy where you can find it because who (apart from a select few on this board) wants to spend all of their time being negative, oops I mean "keeping it real"?

And who said being happy with one win is ACCEPTING mediocrity? This one of the most absurd and oft-repeated statements on this board. Who said "welp, we got 1 win. That's good enough for me."??

So unless you're rocking that Bill Gates pay check, you must be accepting mediocrity right? If you're not even clearing $500k/year, if you're not on that $10k/day CEO time, you've already accepted mediocrity. Do you see how absurd that sounds?

Yes, there have been some stupid coaching decisions. I would expect the game plan to be similar to the Bears game. Read option and dink and dunk down the field. They have quit trying to make him throw deep because he sucks at it. They will Tom Brady you to death with 5 yard passes. Probably 2 or 3 QB keepers thrown in.

If they want to beat our defense they're going to take shots down the field.  Over the middle at the linebacker level is where we get killed a lot.  Depending on how much Telvin Smith is in the game that may change a little but he would be on the weak side of the defensive formation.
If they beat the phin's I'll be more optimistic with two back to back games, until then 21-17 Dolphins

That read option typically kills us in the middle. It sucks Poz is out, but interested to see if what my eyes have been seeing as a glaring weakness is true or not. MLB has had a ton of errors and coverage lapses, especially the first 4 games. The last few had fewer with better Passover between LBs and the backside.

Tanne is good at those 10 to 15 yard throws. He is bad at 20 yards plus. Statistically, we are very poor at 3rd in long complared to the rest of the league. The read option is working very well.

At one point did I call anyone an idiot? I just said calm down, this topic alone shows how bias we can become after one win. People are talking like we should win Sunday, and I hope to god we do, but if we do it will be a massive result for us.

I stated an opinion dude, didn't direct it at anyone don't take it so personally.
A comparison on each teams last game.

Jacksonville at home vs. Cleveland

17-31 159yrds 1 TD 2 int

ran for 185 yrds  5.3 per

3 turnovers

4 for 17 3rd down conversion

Miami at Chicago

25-32 277yrds 2TD 0 int

Ran for 137 yards 4.2 per

0 turnovers

4 for 11 3rd down.

Neither team was good on 3rd down. That has been the story for Miami all season.

Didn't take it personal.  Telling people that they shouldn't be so happy after a win is (in internet forum context) calling them an idiot.  You can downplay it all you want.  That doesn't change the fact that the team has gotten better every week the past three weeks and it may continue.  Dolphins lost to the freaking EJ Manuel QB'd Bills.  So don't tell people that their optimism is unwarranted or premature.

Quote:I'm enjoying the win until Sunday, when we probably get beat. No Poz is no bueno.

There is no reason to think we will lose just because one starter is on IR. That is saying none of the other 24 players are able to do anything right. It is not like we lost the quarterback

Quote:We need to get more INTs.

To beat the Dolphins on Sunday, this team will have to force at least 3 or 4 turnovers, IMO.

One interception was enough against the Browns because we also had two fumble recoveries. Who cares how we take the ball away as long as we do it?

Quote:I'll be very surprised if get a touchdown against the Dolphins. We're not winning this game.

I fully expect this to look like the team that came out the first 3 weeks, unprepared, out of assignments, all that good stuff.

They're on way to much of a high road after a single win. The Dolphins will come in here as focused as the Jags were vs. the Browns and Gus will be back on the hottest seat in the NFL.

Just being real.

Where have you been hiding the last three weeks? It is impossible to know what we did against the Steelers, Titans, and Browns and think we made no progress. Being a pessimist is not being real at all - being an optimist is. If anyone calls you an idiot, it is because you obviously don't know it is good to be happy about a win.

Quote:TBH, a lot of the reasons we won is because of how bad the Browns we played, we only really capitalised on 3 bad plays but that's all that matters I guess.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer, but some people on this board need to calm down after this win. Right now I am not optimistic at all about our chances next week. Just a realist.

Not being optimistic about our chances of winning Sunday is being a pessimist, not a realist. A realist is someone who sees our win as what it is: validation of progress as we keep getting better every week.

You have the interceptions statistic wrong. All three of our turnovers were interceptions. Only the Browns fumbled.

The Jaguars have sucked on third down all season. Bryan Anger was probably the busiest punter last month.

Again I didn't say don't be happy, I said calm down. Sounds like you just have made up your own version of what I said. And I never said anything about optimism being I warranted or premature, I'm all for optimism, I hope we win every game this year and know that even though it's a 0.0001% chance it could happen! It's the expectation level im telling people to lower, the dolphins are a better team than the browns, and beating one at home does not mean we should expect to go and beat the dolphins.
If people want to use this thread to complain about a win, I have to create a new one where only optimists can find it.

No a realist is someone who doesn't necessarily buy onto the cheerleader mentality of winning a game, a win isn't necessarily a sign of progress, a lot of teams win when they are playing bad, a win is just a win. I saw a lot of things which definitely wasn't improved on Sunday.

I'm not pissing on anyone's parade, just a fair evaluation of the game would be nice.

No! No! That's ok.... Don't start a new thread. Everyone will calm down... Right? Right guys?! No new threads.
I really think this will be a hard game, I hope we can manage to get another W. However I know the Phins are a pretty good team as well. This is a bit harder of a game for me to pick a winner. I sadly think we might lose it but Im hoping the win gave the guys a taste for victory and want it bad now.

Should we win....probably not.

Can we win....absolutely!

These guys have gotten a taste of winning and I bet they want another. We're building for 2015 with a large group of very capable rookies

that have just learned they can manhandle a high ranked (#3) browns running offense.

Now, the Jags face tannehill who is passing at 72% his last three games.

Clear to me.....pressure him, sack him (we're getting pretty good at those), cover his receivers and keep him screwed up.

And if he does get a bomb off.....Cyp is there to grab it.

One of the players on the radio today said he had never heard the 'Bank so loud.

HAH.... its going to get louder!

I challenge everyone who is at the game to get louder....it inspires the Jags and works on the minds of the opponents.

I mentioned a few days ago the boards kick in too....they turned all BLUE saying "Third Down"

all around the stadium, moving blue flames....that and the really loud crowd

the brownies folded like a wet newspaper.

I remember a 'phins game years ago that we totally owned marino....destroyed them.

I think he's held a grudge ever since.

Time to skin another 'phin.

The first 2 sentences epitomise exactly what I think, well said! This is what I can buy into!! Smile
