As it's been recently reported Colvin's rebuilt knee is as strong as his healthy knee meaning he's darn near ready to see the field of play. He'll start practicing w/the team next week and his status of being activated to the 53 Man Roster or remain IR will be made...
I kinda like the existing starters at the CB position but Colvin could definately upgrade the position if he's that true "Lock Down" corner that's expected. I'd like to see him play this season even if it's as a reserve looking toward competing for more playing time in 2015...
I truly feel that he'll be a steal for us...

Colvin and Telvin Smith should really improve this defense next year.
Like most people are saying, 2015 for us is starting to look really good.

Agreed...

I thought the health report Monday was he will start practicing this week, but apparently all they said was he can be cleared for practice.
My hope is he will be activated and cleared to practice, but listed as out, for the Dolphins game and go to London as a reserve.

Colvin's not taking McCray's spot. He'll start over Ball by next season.

That's what I'd expect unless he just dominates.

Right,...if he dominates he takes Ball's spot this year.
McCray's going nowhere.
I don't get the hype for Colvin, especially when he is recovering from a major injury.
Yes, he was a good corner, but I am keeping my expectations low because of this reason.
If he performs at the same level or better than where he was drafted, then tickle me surprised.

I think people are just looking forward to having someone not named Alan Ball in the starting lineup because he has been underwhelming this season.

TBH, Ball has been the best CB on the field so far.
He's really getting hyped up. 4th round pick (arguably a 2nd if not injured - I know, I know) coming off a knee injury - just don't be surprised if he isn't playing at a Pro Bowl level by the end of the season.

He was very good last year but this season it seems like everyone is more interested in McCray.

I disagree.
McCray since starting has been better.

Since when has McCray "won" a spot permanently as starter?
LOL

They've both been average to below average, and in need of upgrade.

The Steelers game, of course. And that was on the other side, not replacing Ball.

If he's healthy and getting back into shape, they should work him in here and there as early as the London game (but I wouldn't expect him starting just yet.)
If that holds going into 2015, then he'll probably be starting.
We'll get a much better idea of where he is physically by the end of next week.

To anyone with functioning eyes.
Since Gratz went down with injury McCray's been a stud at the position.
Quote:They've both been average to below average, and in need of upgrade.
Gratz has been below average and Ball is just average, yes agreed on both.
McCray + a healthy Colvin will make for a significant upgrade as a CB tandem than what we had starting the season at those 2 spots.
Quote:The Steelers game, of course. And that was on the other side, not replacing Ball.
He's shown nothing to indicate he shouldn't be upgraded. Even if Colvin ends up being the stud they hoped he would be and locks down one side, don't be surprised if we draft a corner high next season with the intention of him becoming a starter.
What we have now isn't very good.
