Quote:Any word on Mallory?

Mallory and Marrone coaches together in New Orleans. He's probably safe.
Quote:He seems to be saying the changes with questions so is it speculation what he thinks he will change? Seems so.

Correct, but they seem like very likely changes
So y'all think we might go Hooker with this scheme change? I'd still like Adams. Or still going with one the D-linemen?
Quote:Yup. Plus the split safety look should let Gipson do his thing better instead of being 30 yards down field
I also think the split safety look would require a SS better in coverage than the incumbent.
Quote:Yup. Sounds like Wash wants to put the best guys on the field. What a novel approach.
Novel indeed.

I think the big DEs like Odrick and Alualu are gone, too.

Coughlin has almost always gone for the DE with speed, length and burst who can get after the QB, with the one exception being Renaldo Wynn.  I think if Coughlin is pulling the strings Odrick and Alualu will be obsolete here.

Agreed. There's still Sample on the roster if he can stay healthy. And the draft could net us a good SS. Or try to steal Eric Berry

I agree. Their only other option would be to play inside but we already have a lot of guys there.

<p class="">Hearing that the assistant coaches in Jaguars who have not yet been let go will be meeting with Tom Coughlin before final decisions made

Another example of Tom Coughlin being the focal point of the Jaguars football operation.

The Special Teams Coordinator position should be especially interesting to see what transpires.   Doug Marrone likely will want to bring Danny Crossman to Jacksonville.  How Tom Coughlin feels about that will go along way in whether the two coaches will be working together yet again.

Odrick is likely gone due to his salary. Tyson is cheap and can play all over the line, and has been durable. Quite frankly, I think he outplayed Odrick this season. He's also a good character in the locker room. IMO, he's staying.Keep in mind that Roy's status is up in the air, same with Abry being a FA.

Right now, Malik, Senn, Day (all 1 gap DTs with the exception of Malik who offers more flexibility) are the only healthy big guys we have. Things could change if Allen falls to us. But given Tyson's price tag, I think there's a good chance he stays.

As for TC's preference, I disagree. Brackens is a pure pass rushing DE at RE, but IMO, Tyson is similar to guys like Payne, Wynn, and Meier. Guys who can play inside or outside.

Dear lord. This is a fireable offense for Marrone, as far as I'm concerned.
For now, Doug and Tom have been non-committal when it comes to the staff. So we could see Hackett/Wash as OC/DC, or we could see them go back to their original roles (QB coach/Dline coach) with a new more senior/experienced staff member come in.

Yeah Danny Crossman the Bills special teams coach seems to be the guy Marrone wants. In 2015 his special teams had the best kick return coverage with only 17.2 yards allowed per return.
It would be wise to bring in some new coaches to get some fresh ideas and new schemes.. We need to part ways with all Gus loose ends... And don't give me the defense was. 6th in total defense. Maybe it's because the players got better and we got better talent out there.. The jags played a bend but don't break defense and the Colts exposed that the last game of the season .. We need a new scheme..
Coughlin/Marrone better move fast with these staff hires.
@nflnetwork Vance Joseph tells me @nflnetwork he hopes Mike McCoy doesn't leave the building. He'd like to see McCoy as the Broncos OC.

I thought I heard earlier it was already a done deal.

Remember when Mike Smith to the Jags was a done deal?
Marrone said there are no position titles set yet on the staff that is remaining.

That will come after they fill out with the "best they can find"
