“Jimmy O runs a bunch of complex stuff,” quarterback Blaine Gabbert said. “So, it keeps us on our toes (in practice).”

O’Neil’s game plans will vary from week to week. Cornerbacks will flips sides, to match their speed and size to opposing wide receivers. The super-sized defensive line will rotate to stay fresh. The linebackers will roam as they see fit — and wherever NaVorro Bowman can build off last year’s NFL-leading tackle totals.

I like it.
@ Brklyn ....Bro, we all make silly predictions. We're men, that's what we do.

I know you wanted Shannahan or McDaniels. And you didn't want to "settle" for Mike Smith. But look on the bright side. WE HAVE TOM FREAKIN COUGHLIN..

linebackers will roam

This would be awesome for Telvin Smith and Myles Jack.

And it will be Toms way or the highway from the personal to the coaches to the players.   I do not see him ever changing.
Yeah everybody will have to respect Coughlin's style. It is exactly what this young team needs.
According to many on this board we have a Top 5 defense!

Why would a top 5 defense fire almost everyone.

oh....

Because we need a scheme that fits the players strengths. Instead of forcing a scheme as if we have the same players on the Seattle Seahawks.
Was hoping Saleh would stay as LB coach but happy Walker is gone.

Jimmy Lake has a pretty good resume. Helped developed Marcus Peters in college , this year Sidney Jones will be another first round cornerback from Washington and Budda Baker is a safety who's pretty good too.

Jim O'Neil is garbage though, one of the worst DCs in the league.

Maybe as a defensive coordinator. He wouldn't be doing that under Wash though. He would be strictly a linebackers coach.

I'm sure he's a grand linebackers coach.

Top ten, not top 5.  Not that I've ever claimed that. They just happened to finish 6th in yards allowed.

And the answer to your question is that new Head Coaches almost never keep the staff of the former HC.  They want their guys that they trust under them because all of their jobs are riding on the record they produce as a staff.

Actually, that's where the NFL ranked the defense.

You know who they are, don't you?
Quote:If we wanted to keep the scheme, we wouldn't have fired everyone but Wash and an assistant.
I dont understand keeping Walsh and firing everybody else but 1 guy

We should have just dumped everybody on defense
Quote: I don't recall the details of that game other than the Jaguars lost.

What I do remember is it felt like that Bill Musgrave's Offense wasn't a good fit for Byron Leftwich's skill set.
Yup his offense fits Carr much better, and it doesnt fit Bortles either
@MikeSilver Mike McCoy will weigh several options as OC. Could include Broncos (if Vance Joseph gets job), Bills (if Sean McDermott hired), Jags, others

Ummmmmm. Silver is usually pretty accurate. Is Hackett definately safe?
Quote:- Hackett was running Olson’s offense

- Wash was corrupted by Gus and can change the current scheme

Are we going with that?
I wouldn't say it's wash was corrupted.

And Hackett didn't change Olsen's scheme. He tweaked it and imho definitely did a better job calling plays.

Maybe the coaches were told that they'll be on staff but their title is to be determined. They were saying the same thing with the new raiders OC in the sense that he may have been contacted to be the OC here if not promoted

Wash to put own stamp on scheme

Wash to put own stamp on scheme

That's what I wanted to hear

Me too.

I liked the part about the SLB playing off the LOS.

That means if Poz stays inside, more playing time for Jack in a scheme more tailored to him.
