Quote:Calling you on this. ^  It's not true.

Plays involving Cyprien in the first quarter:

-Ist defensive series: covered the TE on a play when Whitehurst threw it away.

-2nd series: Leaves TE to Hayes (vocalized the switch to Geno first) and picked up the motion receiver and pushed him out of bounds. 6 yard gain. Not a whiff in the slightest. Good recognition if anything.

-Delanie Walker up the sideline. Cyprien got his shoelaces - but Walker tip-toed the chalk for 6 extra yards.  One "whiff." (really just a good play call against that coverage. The TE ran behind two WRs essentially setting a pick on Cyprien.)

-There was a screen to L. Washington in this series that you probably think he whiffed on, but was clearly
blocked out of the play by his own teammates. Blackmon and Jones.

Whiff  was on W Blackmon.

-On the 25 yard pass to McCluster, Cyprien did his job by covering the slot receiver -  he saw the quick 5 yard dump to the RB over the middle and broke to make the play only to be blocked out by the outside receiver. This play was 100% on Geno Hayes who was supposed to pick up the RB (who came up to the line from the backfield pre snap) and was even told to do so by Poz and Clemons at the L.O.S.   He slid over - but did not stick him.

-He then made a good stop on Sankey (1 yard gain)    - and a good hit short of the goal line on Mc Cluster to help hold to a FG. (5 yd gain)

So there ya go.  1 whiff.   Not 3.  He was responsible for 6 yards of offense that he could have prevented if he fought through the WR pick a little better.

Agreed, he's in his 2nd year & making a few mistakes, and that injury did set him back a bit... not making excuses for him because he doesnt need them he's having an okay year... its the CBs, FS, and OLBs that have made the most mistakes allowing the most passing yards.....

I noticed the defense got better when Geno Hayes was taken out for Telvin Smith and ball was taken out with injury.  Our CBs play has been horrible this season!
Quote:No exaggeration on the whiffs but its ok with me. You see what you see.

I see that this discussion is going nowhere.

I'm over it.

Cyprien is average at best at this point in his career. Hopefully, he'll improve.

Cyprieites enjoy your day.

Cypieites? The hell are trying to do here?
To the OP, so since we are losing, Cyp is expeted to be perfect? Who else will you call out, the soda guy for not having enough diet pepsi? You guys are killing me with these threads. Mods, please do something.

Mark my words. You put a half way decent free safety back there with Cyp and the guy will play like lightning. Right now he's essentially trying to play SS and FS.

lolz.....okay....
Cyp is good when he can play in the box safety

Cyprien is essentially playing FS and SS and easily our best defensive player just entering his 2nd year. Cyprien's role is mainly to assist in run support while the free safety (or lack there-of) plays over the top. When the Jags draft a quality FS or get one in FA, you will notice the difference how effective our safety tandem will be.

Until then I said good day sir!!!

Thats was by default previously, and currently I would say is not even true anymore. McCray is better at his position than Cyp is at his.

Different positions. You can't deny Cyprien shut down Antonio Gates and eliminated him from the Chargers game.

Gates is like 100.

And yet scored 3 TD's on the Seahawks defense, averages about 13 yards per reception and has been to 8 pro bowls. But yeah he sucks.
