Quote:Calling you on this. ^ It's not true.
Plays involving Cyprien in the first quarter:
-Ist defensive series: covered the TE on a play when Whitehurst threw it away.
-2nd series: Leaves TE to Hayes (vocalized the switch to Geno first) and picked up the motion receiver and pushed him out of bounds. 6 yard gain. Not a whiff in the slightest. Good recognition if anything.
-Delanie Walker up the sideline. Cyprien got his shoelaces - but Walker tip-toed the chalk for 6 extra yards. One "whiff." (really just a good play call against that coverage. The TE ran behind two WRs essentially setting a pick on Cyprien.) 1
-There was a screen to L. Washington in this series that you probably think he whiffed on, but was clearly
blocked out of the play by his own teammates. Blackmon and Jones.
Whiff was on W Blackmon.
-On the 25 yard pass to McCluster, Cyprien did his job by covering the slot receiver - he saw the quick 5 yard dump to the RB over the middle and broke to make the play only to be blocked out by the outside receiver. This play was 100% on Geno Hayes who was supposed to pick up the RB (who came up to the line from the backfield pre snap) and was even told to do so by Poz and Clemons at the L.O.S. He slid over - but did not stick him.
-He then made a good stop on Sankey (1 yard gain) - and a good hit short of the goal line on Mc Cluster to help hold to a FG. (5 yd gain)
So there ya go. 1 whiff. Not 3. He was responsible for 6 yards of offense that he could have prevented if he fought through the WR pick a little better.
Agreed, he's in his 2nd year & making a few mistakes, and that injury did set him back a bit... not making excuses for him because he doesnt need them he's having an okay year... its the CBs, FS, and OLBs that have made the most mistakes allowing the most passing yards.....
I noticed the defense got better when Geno Hayes was taken out for Telvin Smith and ball was taken out with injury. Our CBs play has been horrible this season!
