I'm pretty sure the whistle blowing it dead was a giveaway.
Quote:Do you grasp the difference between "defended" and indicating patience to allow the process to play itself out to make a determination about whether someone is doing an effective job or not?  Obviously not.  That's a rhetorical question.

You're more than welcome to whine to your heart's content about the losses.  Guess what?  It's not going to change a stinking thing.  All it will do is make you a miserable, whiny fan.  If that's what you prefer, have at it.

You trust people too much because of their title. It is okay to disagree and still have a high probability of actually being right. Your patience with people runs out 2 years too late.

Did Will Blackmon have another sack in the game? I missed some of the game.

Either way you still go after the ball because to me it loomed like a fumble.

LOL.  Miller jumped on it immediately and it rolled between his legs. There were also 4 other Jags about to pounce when the ref blew the first whistle.(should have been a dead ball at that moment - but the other ref had thrown the bean bag) This whole thing is just fiction from someone's bad take in the game day thread.

Ouch.  You mean they weren't just standing around nonchalantly chatting about the weather?
Quote:Gene's been gone for a couple of years now.  When do you plan on letting him go?  There are only a couple of remnants from his era.  That's a pretty good reason for why the team is struggling today with all of the roster turnover, particularly with much younger players filling starting roles.  So, when do you plan to move on from Gene?
Hahah I moved on from him the second he took a punter in the 3rd round. You on the other hand continued to put faith in him saying "He knows more than you do so lets trust him to make the right decisions."

Sometimes the GMs are not smarter than the people on this board. Sometimes they are. Caldwell definitely outsmarted everyone here with the BB pick. I like to make my own judgements about where the team is headed rather than just put blind faith in the people running the team.

No Miller did not go for it instantly at all. After it rolled on the ground for a couple seconds he finally made an attempt at it.

This picture tells me nothing. I need video.

If it was simple enough that someone on a message board could do the job, there would be no need for GMs, right?  Just let the fans vote on personnel moves.  They do just fine in Madden.

Once again, you defend someone because of their title not even giving remote consideration that they may simply be in over their heads and in fact not smarter than a message board member.

What does that picture tell anybody???

It doesn't tell anyone anything. Should have been an easy recovery. Someone gif the whole play.

How hard is it to create one of the worst NFL teams in history while being at the bottom of both offense and defense?  Yes I could do this job and may even do it better.

Someone posts an irrelevant snapshot of the play and all of a sudden I am making things up and the usual suspects who defend mediocrity jump on me....

Love how you always bring up Madden. I don't play but cool.

I bet if you could go back and look at mock drafts done by people on this board from 2008-2012, I bet they were better than the GMs. GMs definitely do play a major role but only good GMs. After 2 drafts, you could tell Gene was terrible. Scotty McGee, Larry Hart and Austen Lane? Yikes.

And sometimes it is that simple. Sometimes people on this board don't out think the draft pick. They just take the best player. Alualu at #10? I think a ton of people were calling for Earl Thomas and JPP.

If you honestly believe this, you are absolutely delusional.

Yes, it's a simple process in gutting an entire roster and rebuilding it from scratch.  That's why teams do it so often.

Nobody was ever declaring Gene was a great GM, especially after his 2nd draft.  Still, they gave him the benefit of the doubt that he had a plan, and that he should be allowed to let it play out.  When it continued to flounder, nobody was hoping the team would keep him around.  Most people have moved on.  You clearly haven't because you bring him up with some regularity.

This GM has done everything he possibly could to fumigate the roster and move on from that era.  It's a shame some fans can't seem to follow suit.

I remember the play and was extremely pissed it wasn't recovered.
