D6, how has the Lions new shiny TE looked this pre-season? I ask because Jaguars linebackers have notoriously struggled against pass catching TEs. Hopefully that'll change with Telvin Smith playing nickel LB.

in addition to the above - (for us fantasy footballers) is Ebron going to start this season? Or is the plan for him to start by some point this year?

I'm not panicking because I think he is a better QB than Henne and will have a good outing.

 Jags practice better than the Lions tomorrow 24-12. 1st team defense shuts down the Lions passing attack and Bortles goes 13-18 for 160 yds 1 TD's & 1 int

 

The Lions first team offense has looked lights-out so far, and on top of that, Megatron will get his first start against you guys now that the bubble wrap is coming off. If you have any expectations whatsoever of coming even close to stopping Detroits pass attack, you will be very disappointed. I expect the Lions will be passing the ball at will all night.

Good luck with that. Its obvious you haven't seen our new improved pass rush. Stafford is going to be curled up in the fetal position after Marks hits him.

Not much need for luck. Lions had the 3rd ranked offensive line last year, and gave up the 2nd fewest sacks in the league. And that was with 3 new starters on the line, and I expect them to be even better now that they had a year to gel. Watch the game tomorrow, and you'll see what a real pass rush is (and what real inside blocking from a Oline is).

Again, its obvious you haven't seen the Jags defensive line play this offseason.

How dare you sir!  How dare you tell me when to panic.  If he doesn't play well I will immediately PANIC.  I cite poor play calling, and demand a coaching change.  I will call for the 3rd or 4th string practice squad QB to "get his shot" because "what do we have to lose?".

 

Then when that doesn't work I will declare the season lost.  State: "That's it. I am done."   And then return 2 weeks later like nothing ever happened.

 

This I do swear.

The coaches aren't happy with Fairleys weight, but he is still better than 90% of the DTs in the league, and 10 extra pounds aren't holding him back from playing well. He is playing for his job back, and he'll bring it. Ziggy Ansah, Fairley, Suh, Jason Jones, Devin Taylor, George Johnson, Webster, Deandre Levy, Tullock, Van Noy... these guys are going to bring it.  And if you think they look great, just wait until the offense takes the field. You're going to spend the post game show driving to the corner drug store, looking for any kind of ointment that can help you with the severe case of butt hurt you're gonna have.

He's shown enough to tell me he can be a successful franchise QB in the future. At this point, I hope Henne outplays Bortles as he should against starters. I can also see a scenario where Henne takes his usual step back and looks bad then Bortles coming in giving us a sense of urgency and production. Then I don't want to be the guy having to make the big decisions going into the regular season. I hope both play well again but we almost need Henne to have a good showing more so than Bortles.

What makes the 2014 Lions better than years past? I think you should temper your extraordinary high expectations. When they actually do something worth bragging about let me know. The only person who will need ointment will be Jim Caldwell for his crusty [BLEEP] lips. I'm mean seriously re-tread Jim Caldwell?

It is the preseason after all, when football is getting back into the swing of things, and I haven't talked any trash yet this season, figured I would give it a shot. My team does share a division with the Bears and Packers, and both those fan bases love to troll, especially the Bears. You're guys' team is on the up and up, and I hope you found yourselves a franchise QB, they are so hard to find for teams, I never root against rookie QBs. I see you guys as a 7-9, or an 8-8 team this year if your coaches keep your players playing one game at a time. Then next year, I can see you starting to get into contention. Jimmy Caldwell is a much better coach than people give him credit for. And unless you get a unproven coach from a college, isn't every coaching hire basically a retread?

Hey man, don't worry about some of these people on here they can be too uptight when another fan does a little lighthearted trash talking. I'm glad to see your team on the upswing and hopefully we will be in the same position by this time next year. Your trashing wasn't disrespectful and unlike fans from other teams it didn't result in using the same lame jokes about our team or city. Welcome to this site and my question to you is how is your team going to improve the secondary because we had rashean mathis at one point and he is clearly past his prime.

You're right, he doesn't need great numbers to have a great outing.  It's more about his development and how he handles the pressure the Lions are sure to bring.
