Quote:That's pretty cute...coming from someone from Oklahomie........

Nope, no cows....but I did have to tip a statue trying to free this Einstein....

That's cool, you guys respect the stadium lawnmowers, I like that.

Game, set, match.

Uhh... how so? I just completely called you out and proved you wrong and you come back with "game, set, match"?

Right... OK.

Oh and perkolater: Do you honestly expect a city who hasn't had a pro football team ever in it's entire existence to automatically have the stadium full when they first arrive? It takes time to build a fan base especially for a sport that had been nonexistent to a city.

Also, I can't stop laughing this argument is on a JAGS board. Known for having one of the worst fan bases in all of football... Barely ever filling a stadium.  Laughing

Typical colt fan.  Nice double standard.   Your attendance numbers are barely better than ours but don't let the truth get in your way.

I'll stand by my comments that when it comes to pathetic fan bases no one even comes close to the bandwaggoners in Indy.   Truth hurts I guess.

So let me get this straight?

Indy didn't consistently fill the RCA dome until well into the Peyton Manning era, after getting the team in 1984, and it's justified by saying it takes time to build a fanbase, yet Jacksonville got a team in 1995, didn't consistently fill the stadium, and we're automatically among the worst fanbases in football, even though our crowds in the first 3-4 years of existence were larger than anything Indy has cobbled together even in the height of the Manning era?

I guess 20 years in Indy is somehow > 20 years in Jacksonville, eh?

As far as the sport being nonexistent to a city...what were there no televisions in Indy, or did none of them get channels showing NFL football?

What, when the Super Bowl was being broadcast to the world, Indy was getting a 3 Stooges marathon?

I wouldn't call it creepy what he's doing, but it reaks of a publicity stunt/look at me I'm a good guy!

The guy is just weird.

They still can't sell out a loser. Until they drafted Luck they were having serious issues with season ticket renewals, and they didn't sell out the 2012 season through season tickets from what I recall. It's still a fair weather town that will only support a winner. If Luck takes a left turn or has a career ending injury and they're a 4-6 win team for the next few years they won't be selling games out and they'll be the next Tampa Bay, a "GREAT FOOTBALL TOWN!" with a season ticket waiting list that suddenly evaporates.

That said the NFL seems greatly interested in keeping a team there for some reason because they've continually bent over backwards to make sure Indy doesn't have a down year. In the late aughts when they were about to run up against the cap HARD the NFL raised the cap significantly to make sure they wouldn't go through what the Jaguars went through.

Not to mention the fact that they struggled to make the blackout deadline for their very own home wildcard playoff game. Jim Irsay had to request a blackout extension (aka he bought up the tickets) to avoid a playoff blackout.

Good point. It's literally a town that had blackouts years into Peyton's run of dominance, and the second they start looking like they're not going to the playoffs the fans stop showing up. It's not like they have the beach to go to, either. What are they doing? Getting their moonshine still ready for the next batch?

Actually, a terrible point.

3/4 of the home teams (including Green Bay, who has one of, if not the best fan base in the NFL) needed extensions to sell out. That was an NFL issue, not a fan issue. If you think otherwise you're clueless (which would be par for this conversation).

So what?? Indy doesn't have a baseball team I have absolutely NO INTEREST in the sport once so ever. Same as many other people I know.

If Indy got a pro baseball team would I be more interested? Ya probably.

translation: "Yes, you guys are right, but I'm going to make some excuses about why the fans here aren't even passionate enough to support a winner in the playoffs, insult for good measure."

You know what, you're right. Green Bay is a terrible fan base!!!  Rolleyes

I think that's really all this is about.  It's a PR campaign designed to try to get beyond his legal issues.

Only if they are winning.

Boy, you really weathered the tough times, huh?

Ever heard of the Indians???  Victory Field?  I've had many a fun afternoon and/or evening in Victory field.   Guess they aren't good enough for you.

If I would have known about these forums earlier in life I'd be here then too.... Don't you worry FBT, I'm not going anywhere. I know you'd miss me.

I enjoy Indians games. I usually go there once or twice every year. I don't follow the team/pay attention to anything they do otherwise. They're a minor league team, obviously doesn't have the same feel as a major league team.
I would love audio of the home crowd that went from Manning to Curtis Painter. Probably lots of colorful metaphors in the stands for those games.
