Weed is not physically addictive, as others have said. It is mentally addictive, just like any other foreign substance that can take your mind off your day, whether that's porn, gambling, or lots of TV.
I'm not saying this to judge anyone, as many of my friends and family have faced both physical and mental addictions. But you have to look at the lifestyles. The only thing that separates a weed addict from a coke addict is that the weed addict won't get physical withdrawal symptoms if he stops. But if you're using weed everyday (at least the people I've met who do)your income is predicated around financing it, your day is built around it, and it comes to be how you define yourself. And that's not a good thing.
The thing that really stinks is this had to be his second offense to warrant a suspension. That's on Ace. Getting caught once should have been enough. He seems to be handling it right. Unfortunately for him, missing all or most of camp may cost him a roster spot.

He knew what he was doing. What's more, this wasn't the first time he was notified by the NFL of his misconduct. He didn't admit this situation of his own volition either; the man got caught and it was going to come out.
Thankfully, Ace was probably only going to be slated for use as a punt returner and a backup receiver. We are deep at receiver so his suspension is, while not a good thing, not so bad a blow to the team. Still, what the heck is the deal with our receivers using drugs????

Seriously, marijuana "addiction" is a maturity thing. There's no withdrawal associated with putting down the joint. If a person can't kick pot, they're doing it wrong.

Ace Sanders is employed by an organization that does not allow the use of an illegal substance (marijuana).
Ace Sanders knew the use of this illegal substance would have negative repercussions for him, yet he continued using it.
Even after having been caught once by the league and warned, he continued using it.
Ace Sanders knew that the team is trying to climb out of the cellar and needed his help, but continued using the illegal substance anyway.
This is called a psychological addiction, as opposed to the physiological addiction you reference marijuana in. Here is the results of marijuana use; an otherwise promising career (worth millions) might very well be over before it even had a chance to develop. Think about that...

I'll believe a player is handling something right by their continuing eligibility to play football.
What they say in the media and what they do while they're suspended is what the team's PR people and their agent tells them to do. The real proof comes later.
We saw it with blackmon, talk is cheap, and these guys like most people are good at getting in front of people and telling them exactly what they want to hear while simultaneously knowing fully in their own mind that they're going to do whatever they want.

Which has nothing to do with the point I'm making, which is that we won't know if he's sincere about changing his life to make football the priority or not for years.
If he gets through this season without another suspension and gets a year next offseason then even though some people might think he was okay while playing this year in retrospect it will be obvious that he wasn't.
If he goes the rest of his career without an incident (or getting caught) then we can believe that he was sincere about wanting to deal with his problem.
My guess is he'll do what 99% of people do/would do, which is try to cover up his drug addiction more thoroughly so he can "have it all".

Only for the weak minded. I've been smoking for 15 years. I've managed to perform well at my job, advance and make wage increases. I've raised children. There is much more difference between the "addicts" of cocaine and those who are "regular users" of marijuana.
Addicition is a state of mind that those too weak end up facing. Addiction is a mental disease.
I believe one could use cocaine, heroin, marijuana, alcohol, regularly and controlled and never be addicted.
Fact is, marijuana is "safer" in so many ways than alcohol and even caffeine (which is much more addictive than THC).
But don't let the facts get in the way of your opinion.

Kind of ignorant when you consider that all of those negative consequences are imposed by society rather than an effect of the actual use of the substance. Your line of thinking is exactly why marijuana and similar drugs that could actually be used medicinally continue to remain schedule 1 drugs here in the good ol' USA (and thus can't even be researched), while other progressive countries are using them for all kind of illnesses and pains. Luckily the few states that have legalized are seeing such huge tax income, as well as reduction in violent drug crimes, and many other benefits from it that states that aren't completely ignorant will not be far behind.

Just listened to the Gus Bradley interview regarding Ace. He put such a positive spin on how Ace was heading the issue straight on. Heck, after the interview I felt so proud of Ace for his accomplishment.

I never thought he was all that good to begin with....or would have had some "great" season this year, either....
but that said, I think he's a useful cog type and its disappointing that he is getting suspended.

I'm guessing Gus is the good cop to Caldwell's bad cop in these situations.
Gus can be "I'm so proud of you for taking care of this, Ace, good luck to you!" while Caldwell waits for him further down the hall to let him know he's one more wrong move away from getting cut and trying to live out the rest of his pot addicted life on whatever small amount of signing bonus he hasn't yet spent.

Yeah, I'm certainly sick of it. I wonder if he was as proud after the fist violation as well?
