Tyrod scares me cause what are you left with after he slows down due to age and isn't so quick? A current Michael Vick possibly even worse?

Thats like 6 years from now why would that be your most prominent worry lol
He's already 27 at most he had 2-3 years left in his style of play he's not capable of playing from the pocket
I still believe in Blake. He just had his best game of his career and once he and the rest of the team gets on the same page the supporting cast will be much more helpful. I don't know if there was some sort of injury this season or just a total meltdown by the offense where nobody was blocking or getting open but the lack of a rushing attack is going to make the quarterback look worse by default. Dak stepped into the perfect situation to succeed much like Russell Wilson did in Seattle. I don't see any of the free agent QB's coming over and making that much of a difference. I think maybe we draft a QB to develop but Blake is our QB next season. It might not be the entire season if we don't get our crap together but the ship can still right itself and last week was proof.

We don't have any strong enough options this year to outright replace him. I think most of us on here realize and recognize that. The only answer is maybe in the draft where you hope to land the next Prescott or Wilson in day three of the draft or the next Carr or Dalton in day two of the draft.

Either way. It's hard to speculate or guess at the moment until we know who the next head coach will be. Then we should start kicking those mental tires around harder. Best guess for me though would be us signing Nick Foles or Ryan Fitzpatrick once free agency opens up. And then we will add more competition by drafting either Watson or Mahomes in the 2ND RD. Henne will be cut. So that'll give us a healthy trio of competition next summer.

Quote:Tyrod sucks.  Jimmy G is the only one who has an upside.  I don't think there is anyone in the draft worth taking in the first 2 rounds.  Take Jimmy G.  Have him compete against Bortles, and if it's not looking like he can take this team anywhere, draft someone the following year.

You're not giving up two draft choices for a player to compete for starting QB.
I would like to stick with Blake for one more year, with an improved offensive line, better running back, better coaching.

I think the last game was a good example of how much we can help the defense with an improved offense.  Playing with the lead, forcing the other team to throw, all of a sudden our pass rush looks good.

I just think if we make a major investment in our offensive line and running back, we can succeed with Bortles.  For example, if we had an offensive line like Dallas, and a running back like Ezekiel Elliott, Bortles might look a whole lot better.

Quote:I would take Romo over any of the other named qbs. "Old and fragile"...Dude can still play.

IR'd 3 times in 2 years behind the best offensive line in football. Him behind this offensive line is good for nothing more than hilarity.
I would like Tyrod as a option if Bortles doesn't get it together

I am sure he is dying to get wrecked behind the Jags o line.
IMO you've got to find a QB who's passes don't look like this:

The only NFL QB that might be available I like is Tyrod Taylor, he completes over 60%, he doesnt turn the ball over like Blake, he also can make a lot of plays with his legs, he still has a high upside, and is also a good leader.

He has also played 2 full years so you know that he isnt a one year or one game wonder.

I just dont like the other options

Jimmy Garoppolo - who knows might be fools gold and will cost a lot in trade

Mike Glennon might be Brock Osweller 2.0 or Rob Johnson any of those guys

Tony Rome is old a fragile

I also dont want a rookie starting again

But would like to draft a QB somewhere between 2-7

But we most likely we wont hit on a Dak

Tyrod Taylor would be the only guy i'll be comfortable with being named starter that could lead us to a division title next year if we moved on from Blake

None of the above and this isn't a QB strong draft either. Our team has other needs besides QB. We need to draft and acquire playmakers on both sides of the ball and start Bortles in 2017 until we can land or develop the RIGHT qb. I've always felt like we reached for Bortles and Gabbert out of desperation, saying OMG we need to draft a QB and we reached for both.

Remember when we drafted Bortles and everyone compared him to Big Ben? Ben was great right out the box but he wasn't being asked to win games, those teams had great defense and a stellar run game with Bettis. If Jax hits the reset here on Bortles and him someone like Leornard Fournette and a great defense, BBINT could turn out like alex smith---that isn't so bad.

I like Tyrod Taylor, but I don't think he is THE guy. He isn't McNabb reborn to me, his future is a journeyman.
Tyrod Taylor, Jimmy G, Brandon Allen or even someone in the draft like Mahomes...just anyone please other than Bortles and Henne.

I like Tyrod, he's reminds me of Vick. Don't know why.
Only QB I would trade for would be Rivers. Sure it would cost an arm and a leg and he is old, but this defense only has like 3-4 window so it could be the best way to maximize those years. You also have to have a running game in that situation, as Rivers has only won consistently with a run game. He could win a SB in that position though.

How does this defense only have a 3-4 year window? Lol.

Wait what?

What other choice do we have?  Do you continue this losing culture, or grab the league by the balls and do what we can to win?  If we lose out on a first this year, then so be it.  If Jimmy G sucks, we will have a first the following year to find a QB in the draft.  The only missing piece in our org after we get a coach is the QB.  Which is the most important position on the field.  You have to take chances, or risk being this same Jags organization the past 9 years.

Edit: We need a damn RB too, but QB tops the list

Taylor's numbers weren't that bad cause he has a very good runner, Bortles is fine. Too much pressure on ourselves this year and they couldn't handle it. Everything got old quick. Being aggressive early makes all the difference in the world. You can't win and build confidence calling them stupid plays that were called in the beginning of the season. We just have to eat it..... It was just that bad fluke season and we'll be fighting for division next year.  I'll be right there with you calling for heads if we don't. :pirate:

I think we need a damn running game, not RB. Ivory was the most productive back in the conference just last year. Yeldon has 2 years left on contract. Add another promising prospect to the mix, perhaps move on from DRob, revamp the O line, reemphasize running schemes, call better run plays to utilize personnel strength, then you could be on your way.
