Quote:I still believe in Blake. He just had his best game of his career and once he and the rest of the team gets on the same page the supporting cast will be much more helpful. I don't know if there was some sort of injury this season or just a total meltdown by the offense where nobody was blocking or getting open but the lack of a rushing attack is going to make the quarterback look worse by default. Dak stepped into the perfect situation to succeed much like Russell Wilson did in Seattle. I don't see any of the free agent QB's coming over and making that much of a difference. I think maybe we draft a QB to develop but Blake is our QB next season. It might not be the entire season if we don't get our crap together but the ship can still right itself and last week was proof.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Blake just had his best game this season, but not of his career. It was a decent game, but not all that mind-blowing. He just finally looked competent, as did our HC.

As for the best game of his career, there are a few to choose from last year. He had at least four, maybe five, games last year that were better.

Quote:What other choice do we have? Do you continue this losing culture, or grab the league by the balls and do what we can to win? If we lose out on a first this year, then so be it. If Jimmy G sucks, we will have a first the following year to find a QB in the draft. The only missing piece in our org after we get a coach is the QB. Which is the most important position on the field. You have to take chances, or risk being this same Jags organization the past 9 years.

Edit: We need a damn RB too, but QB tops the list

The key word, if you missed it (obviously), was COMPETE. If you're wasting two draft picks on a QB (who's started a grand total of TWO games) you'd better be damn sure he's your starter. DAMN sure.

Quote:I think we need a damn running game, not RB. Ivory was the most productive back in the conference just last year. Yeldon has 2 years left on contract. Add another promising prospect to the mix, perhaps move on from DRob, revamp the O line, reemphasize running schemes, call better run plays to utilize personnel strength, then you could be on your way.
Ivory is the only viable RB.  Ivory fumbles and gets hurt too often, as shown this year.  Yeldon is 3rd string material in my opinion.  I don't see anything other than "just another guy" in him.

Better than hoping to get better every game.

So we'd rather give up two draft choices for a pretty much unproven commodity and hope he's for real. Isn't that exactly the same thing...or worse?
Trade bortles for whatever draft pick jags can get, trade for Romo

So waste your picks on the old guy who can't stay healthy...great plan.

He led his first drive ending in a td easily. Blake has only done that, what, once

He has the best Oline in football in front of him and he still BROKE HIS BACK in the preseason.

He had surgery, its fixed

C'mon man, he's 36 and had to have his back surgically repaired. If you want to move on that's fine, but you can't reasonably say Tony Romo is the guy you should pick up.

Yeah right.  Romo gets hurt every year.  Could you imagine him behind the Jags line?  He'd get carted off the field by the second game.
Fine then, stick with the QB that throws high passes to ar15 on intermediate slant/post route just like in today's game in the 4qtr that would have got the first down

Versus this guy?

Definitely.
if romo is healthy you have a good qb

if romo isnt healthy you dont have a good qb

if blake is starting you dont have a good qb

this is really all the reasoning i need

1. Can't happen

2. Is the Status Quo

3. Is an opinion
Let Blake heave up ducks for one more year so we can tank for Lamar Jackson or DeAndre Francois.

Its not likely, but "Cant" implies its a fact which it isnt. The small possibility is the whole point. Theres these things called risks, and if they work out they pay off, or they dont.

But not taking a risk leaves us with a bad quarterback (in my opinion based on overwhelming evidence)

Jackson sucks and Francois will only be a Sophmore, right?

C'mon man, Tony Romo is a fragile old man who never won anything. He ain't the white knight coming to save this franchise.
