I have just the opposite opinion. He has never really said he is sorry for what he did and when the video came out, he didn't seem very remorseful and even made indications that he felt justified for what he did. I believe if he was put in the same position, he'd do it again. Once people see that and know how to push your buttons, he may very well be put in that position again. Somebody will be looking to get hit and claim a large settlement. I wouldn't touch him.

Is he really so good he is worth the risk?


I remember a similar debate about Dorial Green Beckham and there were those saying he was so good he was worth the character risks.

DGB was more of an upside pick than Mixon is from a purely skills standpoint. DGB wasnt a proficient route runner coming out either, he won his battles physically. Mixon is just good at everything.

That's a fair point. I guess I meant that more because of the nature of the crime rather than how he acted afterwards.

Domestic violence offenders are never worth the risk. I don't care how good a player is; if he punched a woman in the face, he is off my wish list. We don't need a player whose career will be interrupted or even shortened by an ugly video.

I would want a good sit-down interview with him. If he doesn't give me a good feel about him and his actions - he's off my lift.


If I feel good about the interview, I will gladly put him back on the draft board and I would select him.

Coughlin was on the New York Giants coaching staff at the time Lawrence Taylor played.


I think he's comfortable with "sketchy" characters as long as the price to performance ratio is worth it and they are good teammates.

The point you are missing is in the term DOMESTIC....

 

it is contained to within family, a household, etc..

 

Outside in public it is just assault/battery.

The NFL was smart to deny him a combine invitation regardless of what his punishment would be if convicted.

Assault is the attempt or threat to do harm. Battery is tacked on once it happens. You don't have to actually touch someone to commit assault.
