How do you even know who he is?

I'm gonna make a crazy guess and say because he watches football.

What is football?

It's a game were 2 teams put 11 pepole each on a field about 100 yards long and one trys to get a ball in to a box on one side while the other trys to stop them then they switch roles.

They do it for about 60 minutes for about 17 weeks. I hear it's pretty popular people even come and watch.

Sounds awesome.  I'm in.
My first choice was Marrone, but after today, I think the players need a completely different atmosphere. I don't want any coaches from the last few years (sorry Sullivan, you're great but I'd like our WR's to have some new perspectives)

Ranking:

1. Josh McDaniels (Yes,his showing with the Broncos was dreadful, first 6 weeks were amazing though! and he had Kyle Orton at QB, I'm willing to give him a shot)

2. Tom Coughlin

3. Kyle Shanahan

Most Likely : Mike Smith

I was looking into this.  The year McDanials got fired was right before Elway, Von Miller, Peyton Manning, Malik Jackson, Talib, Chris Harris ...  I always felt Orton was a bit under-appreciated but he wasn't really a franchise QB.   But did McDaniels have any talent in 2010 when he got fired? It seems he got fired more for personnel decisions (Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Tebow) than anything.
As a Coughlin proponent, Im coming to terms a reunion wont happen. Id be happy with the most experienced candidate possible for this next hire. I believe Khan and Dave think this roster is a bit more talented than what the results showed this year. We should give them the benefit of the doubt on that. Todd Haley really intrigues me, but Mike Smith, while its not a move the needle type hire would be a solid candidate. I guess Mike Smith would be my second favorite to land the job. I think hes a good coach who can bring structure and organization to a team that is a little too lackadaisical.

Things are looking to get crowded for teams looking for coaches. They are dropping like flies this year.

49ners is a very unattractive job. The owner has no patience. If I was a coach, Id be looking elsewhere. Last thing McDaniels needs is another crapy situation where he gets screwed. Hes got a pretty sweet gig right now, he needs the right situation to pass up being Tom Bradys OC. LA has appeal being a young team, but will the owner allow him time to get his system working? LA is a fickle town, results are what drives their market. Jacksonville really is a nice landing spot. You will get job security if land here.

Jacksonville has the least amount of job security for a new HC.

Why is that?

I'd disagree, I'm guessing your logic is this new HC will be tied to Caldwell. Which I doubt will be the case.

He is likely assuming Caldwell gets canned after next season if we don't hit a certain amount of wins. I really don't see it. I don't think Khan is going to do the whole hire a coach then fire him the next year based on what he has done with Gus/what it would do to our franchise (make it less attractive, no one wants questions around their job security when they come here). If that's how Khan is viewing things, I feel pretty confident they'd just fire Caldwell now.
Idk if I'm McDaniels I'm holding out unless San Diego calls or some how Denver wants him back. Winning games gives job security

If we don't win next year Caldwell might be gone. If we don't win the following year I'd say he's definitely gone.

As far as I know, Caldwell is in his last year on his contract.  So if Khan hired another GM after the 2017 season and didn't let go of the coaching staff, the new GM would have to agree to a head coach and staff they had absolutely nothing to do with.  This means the most "logical" solution is to let go of Caldwell before the 2017 season, or extend him.  The problem is there is no superstar GM to sign, ever.  You are at best signing another David Caldwell who you somehow hope to be better than David Caldwell...

Yeah I think Khan will give Caldwell a two year window to get things done. If not a new GM will be drafted in and he might want a new HC.
