(Goodell, who else?)
per rotoworld:
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the 2015 draft could be held in Los Angeles or Chicago, and may be expanded to four days.
Radio City Music Hall is apparently unavailable — that wouldn't have been the case had the league simply booked it — though the draft could still be held in New York at Madison Square Garden. Per Rapsheet, it appears the draft will be held either April 22-25 or April 29-May 2. That means, at minimum, it would be a week earlier than this season. Returning to April 22-25 would be in accordance with the league's pre-2014 schedule. Expanding to four nights would be overkill for an event that is already stretched too thin.
Like really? OMGZZZ Like for realz?
What are we like, angry about?
LA/Chicago, the fact that the draft may be moving by a week or two, or the 4 day thing.
Pretty soon he will have cities bidding to see who gets the rights to host the draft. The league is hoping for it to become similar to the super-bowl, only expanded over a weekend.
4 days is ridiculous for the event. 3 is already overkill.
ANd the whole "Radio city is booked" thing is a sham. Had they not purposely dragged their feet on scheduling, they could have had it there on the day they wished. Goodell just wants an excuse to it looks authentic to why he's looking elsewhere, when its really just another pathetic attempt to try and turn the weekend into another money grab.

You don't think its a money grab already? Its a 3 day televised event held in the heart of NYC.

LA, Chicago and NY (MSG) are finalists to host 2015 NFL Draft. Why? Radio City informed @NFL that it will NOT be available in April or May

If the draft is moved out of New York, Chicago would make a great amount of sense. Los Angeles wouldn't. That market currently doesn't even have a team. Unless the league knows in advance that a team is being re-located to Los Angeles, why have the draft in a market that doesn't even have a team? If the NFL wants to have the draft on the West Coast, San Francisco, San Diego, or Seattle would make much more sense.
The energy level needed for NFL front office people and coaches for a 3 day draft is high enough. I doubt a 4 day draft will be something that the NFL team decision makers will be happy with.

Considering the incompentence of James Dolan, it's easy to envision that Dolan screwed up the opportunity for the NFL to continue to hold the draft at Radio City Music Hall. If the draft by chance ends up in MSG, it probably will end up costing Dolan much more than if he gave the NFL priority at RCMH in the first place.

I think Chicago would make a lot of sense also. Alpha City in a more or less central location.

Good point about the Central location. In addition, Chicago has the facility ( McCormick Place ), transportation system, and hotel space to handle an event of this magnitude.

I hate to say it but so would Indy. Why not have the draft and combine in the same city? Better logistic wise.

My guess is the NFL would choose Chicago over Indianapolis if it came down to those two midwest cities. Chicago would probably bring in many more visitors from out of town and it would be easier to sell from a TV marketing standpoint.
The Combine is a different type of event. It's much more along the lines of the Senior Bowl, in that it brings in a large number of NFL front office people and coaches but isn't that big of a fan attendance type of event.

Not Alpha.
Quote:The NFL sent letters today to potential draft hosts in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City today to request more information about their specific plans, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. But the host for next year will not be Radio City, which is booked. If the draft stays in New York, it will be at Madison Square Garden.
Although the final date of the draft has not been set, the league has asked its potential hosts about availability for either April 22-25 or April 29-May 2. 22 and April 29 are Wednesdays, indicating that the NFL is considering starting the draft earlier in the week and turning it into a four-day event. In another indication that the league is trying to make the draft a bigger event, one of the requirements the league has laid down for the potential hosts is that they need to have space for a fan festival in a space adjacent to the actual draft.

Definitely not a fan of the bolded. Any news on if the NFL will sell the draft broadcasting rights to FOX or CBS? That to me would be the best bet at bringing in the bigger bucks and reaching a broader audience.

True. I just hope LA isn't the winner. It would be silly to host the biggest NFL offseason event in a city without an NFL team.

Yeah, but it further's Goodell's NFL to LA agenda.
The whole "radio city music hall is booked" is such BS.
They played the same excuse for moving the draft back 2 weeks this year.
The NFL has been doing it for years at the same location. Pretty sure whoever does the booking does it way ahead of time. It probably just a formality. I can imagine the NFL paying very well for the spot as well.
Radio City Music Hall would rather host an NFL draft than any other event basically.
It is laughable that they are trying to put that out there and expect us to believe it.

exactly, hence my disdain towards the subject person.
I'm so tired of bull poop ruling in society and them thinking the target audience is dumb enough to believe it or not question anything.
