Quote:Upside doesn't mean anything if he never reaches it. Toddman was leagues better than Robinson last season. If Dennard didn't have a cult following coming into the team, there is no one who would think he was making this roster, based solely on what we saw last season.

Yeah, and Robinson really isn't much better of an athlete, if at all.  Todman performed better than Robinson in virtually every drill at the Combine other than 40 yard dash, and Todman wasn't hurting in that regard running 4.4 flat.

Robinson's ability is a bit over exaggerated by fans because he played Quarterback for a high profile program.    A lot of high profile college option QBs have tried to make it as RBs in the NFL over the decades, but the list who have successfully made it can almost be counted on one hand.   Once you take away the threat of the option pitch or the throw, they get really ordinary really quick as runners.     I think Robinson's best chance to make it in the NFL was become a Dexter McCluster.  A slot guy, a return guy and a guy who can motion into the backfield as as runner.   I think Ace put his name plate on the door for that role, and it's left Robinson without a role.   I don't think he's going to make it solely as a RB.

Really??
Quote:This is why I find this all funny; Caldwell could have went after an upgrade over Henne this offseason. His contract was up and all he needed was a starter for a year. He chose to stay with Henne. Caldwell has made it very clear he has no problem moving on past a player even without a viable successor to take their place.

I trust that Caldwell sees something and he feels that if you upgrade the team around him then Henne will play better. Top 40 qb? Give me a break. People really don't understand how much a qb needs some talent around him. Name one hall of fame qb who didn't have a top wideout on his team other than Brady.

I'm not saying the guy is elite but he's only gonna be as good as the wideouts and line in front of him. Since all that is upgraded it is easy to to think he will play better.

Henne was basically a ~85 QBR rating in the final 8 games.  This was under a completely new offense, with completely new teammates and maybe the worst collection of skill level talent in the NFL and very little running attack to make defenses respect play action.   He's perfectly fine for a bridge and placeholder QB.   He can't raise up bad teammates or make you Championship contender, but he can move the chains on offense and at least string together drives and maintain time of possession.    He's nowhere near the  Trent Edwards, Brady Quinn Derek Anderson, Curtis Painter level of bad where your team is an automatic 3 and out simply because of the QB.

TMD, how was I dishonest? You think Cousins is better than RGIII.

ok, I stand corrected,

I don't think that any more. I must have been drunk when that was written.

I don't think RG3 is "elite" but he's a full step above Cousins.
So blake won't be at OTAs tomorrow? According to Bradley's presser he's going home.

Aren't they done for a few days?

he has no chance of playing anyway... cant blame him.

Caught in another lie.
Was Clemons there today?

Just checked they do have OTAs tomorrow.

I realize it may be difficult to imagine from your perspective without one, but perhaps he's got a life.

Since you're such a big fan, we'll be seeing you at the Bartram practice, right?  Maybe you could see him playing football then.

Nah, that would require too much effort from such a big fan...

I thought he was lying. He's done it before.

Not as high on Cousins like before. He was beyond terrible down the stretch this past season.

I was wrong for buying into his early success.

Today's practice report:

Quote:Notes from today’s second OTA practice for the Jaguars:

*Beforehand, the Jaguars announced they will hold a training camp practice at Bartram Trail High School in St. Johns on the night of July 28.

*The Jaguars also said the mini-camp practices on June 17-18 will be open to the public. They previously announced the OTA next Thursday (June 5) would be open.

*Defensive end Chris Clemons remained the only player not present, but he did speak to coach Gus Bradley on Tuesday. Bradley didn’t know if Clemons, who is dealing with a family issue, would be back. Clemons hasn’t been back in the building since he signed his contract in mid-March – defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks said he has yet to meet Clemons.

A team source said they were aware of Clemons’ absence from the off-season conditioning program that started in late April – what peeved Bradley on Tuesday was that Clemons didn’t reach out to him to tell him he wouldn’t be attending.

*Not practicing again today were CB Aaron Colvin (knee), TE Marcel Jensen (groin), LB Dekoda Watson (groin) and S Josh Evans (foot). LB Geno Hayes (knee) had the day off and WR Allen Hurns (shoulder) did not work. WR Lamaar Thomas (knee) had a helmet at the start of practice. Lee jammed his wrist during the workout.

Watson said he “tweaked” his groin on the field earlier this month but isn’t concerned.

*Lee, quarterback Blake Bortles and receiver Allen Robinson are leaving town today to participate in the league’s Rookie Premiere event this weekend in Los Angeles. They will miss Thursday’s OTA.

*As for the workout, the media is prohibited from reporting any details because the session was closed to the public.
