I am really looking forward to seeing Andre Branch continue his fight from a near sure-cut situation last season. Its inspiring to see him fight and claw to stay on this team. Now however, It looks like he may have to go through babin.

I think Todman is facing a sure-cut situation this training camp. Hes sandwhiched between two recent Draft picks (Robinson/Johnson) with the starter being newly signed (T. Gerhart). I think robinson is guaranteed one more year and Johnson has atleast 2 despite being a 7th rounder. It'll be interesting if Todman can make it real hard on Caldwell come cut time.

Quote:Barring injury or Storm Johnson completely falling on his face, I think Todman only makes it if they keep 4 running backs.

I could see Todman being cut before camp and given a chance to catch on elsewhere.

Agree, but the edge should be given to youth.

Which it will be in most cases, given the youth of our roster.

As much as I agree that Lewis is ridiculously overrated, there is no one on the roster that is close to pushing him for his spot.

The bellyaching over Lewis defies logic.

Like MJD, he'll have the remainder of his contract to play out.  Whatever happens after that, happens.

So be it.
I really hope Ryan Davis and Mike Brown earn spots.

I think Jensen could equal/ top Marcedes' production....but unfortunately only one other TE on the roster of that level likely isn't going to bump Marcedes from the roster. They'll likely wait until they have at least 2 of such players to finally rid us of that albatross/ contract.

Quote:Unfortunately one of those decent, young, inexpensive players will get cut and yet that stiff, Marcedes and his giant contract will remain....sad.
I like your avatar TMD

If Caldwell and company viewed Lewis as an "albatross", he would already be gone. Sorry.
Quote:I could actually see Lewis getting cut.. While he's playing better hes not playing close to what his contract dictates.
So you want to cut the best guy at his position because you don't think he is worth his salary? Are you writing his check by chance?

If Mike Brown earns a spot it could make Cecil expendable/ (trade)

....and round and round we go
If our offense progresses this year I believe we'll be looking at a TE in next years draft

I can almost guarantee it. We will draft a TE within the first 4 rounds next draft.

Bye Bye bum (marcedes)
Lewis is such a pox on this organization that all they have done to address the position since Caldwell got here is sign undrafted free agents and waiver wire claims. They must be really down on him.

Lewis might get the axe. 4 wins and what did he do to warrant his contract? Then again you can say that for others but this team is on the rise so we shall see.

Cecil is our #1 WR I don't think keeping our 5th WR is going to change his status.
Quote:Whatever. 'Cedes was a huge part of the offense down the stretch last year and Fisch FINALLY made a concerted effort to get him involved. It took us 4 or 5 offensive coordinators to figure it out.

Agreed. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Lewis this year in that offense.
The TE from Fresno state intrigues me.....huge and athletic, however underused.....if he shows he can block he can take harbors spot as the number 2 TE and with Lewis who despite popular relief is effective when the Qb allows him to run routes instead of running into sacks(gabbert more than henne) and make chunk plays, they can be a tall red zone tandem

I see the we've now got a new budding agenda.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's new he's wanted Shorts out since he was drafted. From day one he didn't like Shorts he thought he'd be cut in favor of Jarret Dillard. That didn't happen and Shorts actually produced now he wants Shorts traded.
