Quote:Eric......the article states that we're moving away from the carbon copy of Seattles D to something closer to Buddy's 46. If Wes Hopkins was good enough for that, then Collins would certainly be good enough here.
The article states that we'll be using more of the Bear front. It doesn't say we'll be moving to it as a base defense. That it would most likely be added into as more of a sub package.

We'll be using multiple "base" formations for different looks. We won't solely be using the 46 defense.
I actually learned something from this thread, which was refreshing.  Thanks for the link, comments, and info, all.

Quote:What will be the icing on the cake for this defense is when they get that Earl Thomas-like Centerfielder.
Would you settle for a Gary Fencik or Dave Duerson type.

Receivers knew that it was No-Mans Land in the da Bears secondary.

I'll take a Wilbur Marshall with their hand on the ground.

LOL That would be awesome, but everyone is saying we need one more round of free agency and draft to have a playoff-caliber roster.
Great thread top to bottom! If Gus can make this work, its the kind of thing that creates coaching legends.
Quote:I could see Cyprien being the "Andre Waters" on that 46.
God I hope not. Waters was one of the biggest cheap shot dirtiest players I've ever seen. Even as an Eagles' fan I hated him.

Explains a lot.

There is more to it than that. Gus Bradley also needs to do whatever he can to reduce the risk of injuries so we have our best 11 playersc out there.

I'm not even sure what that explains, but I'll play along.

Hahaha...good one.

I dunno about that. He was the kind of player most fans loved when he was on your own team but hated when he played for the opponent.

Fat Dan Deirdorf always made a big deal about Waters' play, but I don't think he was any dirtier than any of the so called "bad guys" of the time.
Hmmm.....sounds like a way to get more speed in the game.....imagine......Watson, Clemons, Marks, Hood, C Smith and T Smith as our outside backers and D line on a rush down.....looks good
Not that it is over all a new thing, i love the idea that we have something to call ours if that makes sense.

Quote:And with the 10th pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Landon Collins, Safety, Alabama

I'm a Derron Smith guy, myself.

I see it a bit diferently... Good ss's, imo, u can tack 30-40 pounds on and turn them into a great olb... Same goes in reverse... But u take some big olb hits and put em on a guy coming over the middle and looks dirty..... But to me thats just good play... Sure some guys are bad at hitting like bob sanders, but to me thats different than people who just like contact... Mojo loved contact, thats kinda the mentality im talkin about.
Aight LEO is Light-End Opposite, what is OTTO?

Just throwing it out there after doing no research at all... Olb,tackle,tackle,olb... Just my guess.

Nothing in the article suggests we're moving away from Seattle's D. As I've understood the defense since Gus took over, the defense includes these 46 concepts. As I understand all of this, the Jaguars are merely installing more of Seattle's entire defense.

Courtesy of Alfie. I think he may have read the thread about him in the sideline section and decided to do something other than regurgitate news.
