Quote:Just saw that!  The conversation I think is still a good one.  :-)
Agreed.  I think people are far too eager to write the obituary for a player.

With Blackmon, there is just so much talent there.  The team has to take that into consideration when making any decisions where he's concerned.  If he's clean, and he's able to demonstrate that this is something that will be a continuing trend, why would you dump him?  If I'm Caldwell/Bradley, I'm giving him every chance to redeem himself as a Jaguar.  If he's unable to do so, it's not going to happen for any other team either.  If it does, we've got a talented weapon on the roster who is going to be looking for some redemption.
Ryan O said UDFA Morris took it lol

The media tried to make a story out of thin air. It sucks that it seems to just be piling on right now for Justin. I hope Cecil, Paul, Chad and some of the other veterans reach out to him within the next few days and say, "hey man, we really need you back on this field, great things are beginning to take shape"

I think it's too early to say goodbye to Blackmon. I believe the team is moving in without him, but if he does come back it will just be a luxury at that point.

Posturing. The team is trying to send a message and scare him.

He'll be back. Letting Blackmon loose is detrimental to Bortles' development.

There was no posturing, this was fabricated by the media as the team already came out and said it was false. Morris took his locker due to a lack of space.

I'm sure Blackmon has been "reached out" to continuously for the last 3 years.    If only his problems could be fixed that easily.  .

He's flushing millions of dollars from a potential career down the drain, I don't think a "message" by the team is going to do squat.

Forget lockers, taking 2 WRs in the second round is all the "message" that needs to be said.   The team is moving on.  I'm guessing they're already getting reports from a PI that Blackmon hasn't changed .

Blackmon will be too fat and slow by the time, if he gets reinstated.

Yeah, just saw the report saying it was false.

Fair enough. I figured this was one of the many messages sent to Blackmon that he's expendable.
New report just in

Morris hangs up jersey. Generates a swooshing sound. Mini bar unfolds in front of him.

Team realizes they might have..or rather...Blackmon may have a problem.

Ok. Being rough on him. Mainly cuz I'm upset for him, the team and us fans. But him changing his name from Justin to Jack does send up a warning flag.
keep him he isnt costing anything plus isnt his contract suspended during the suspension meaning if he had 2 years with an option when he went out he will still have 2 years and an option when he comes back.

Some people here are chomping at the bit for Blackmon to be cut. It's like he personally inconvenienced you guys while he struggles with a serious issue.

I don't see how Blackmon isn't reinstated prior to the halfway point of the season. Why would his suspensions go from four games to a year and a half? That doesn't make much sense.

If he's not applying for reinstatement, he's not getting back into the league.  With what little communication that's allowed between the team and the player, they have no idea what he's doing.  They know he hasn't applied to get back on the field yet, which is not a good sign.

At this point they are just guessing based on limited signals, like you said. I highly doubt he's just going to disappear off into the sunset and never apply for reinstatement.

Some of us are choosing to be realistic about the situation

But it hasn't happened yet, and there is some indication this thing is going to be protracted beyond mid-season.

How is it unrealistic to think that he will get reinstated at some point this season, and will likely mess up again in the future and completely ruin his career?

I'm hoping the second part of what I think will happen won't come to fruition, but I'm not being unrealistic.
He's suspended indefinitely.  You don't just apply for reinstatement like a divers license and get rubber stamped back into the league by the Commish.    The league won't take him back until he's thoroughly followed their lengthy guidelines and terms for reinstatement involving full participation in rehab, counseling/therapy, random drug testing and no slip ups along the way.  When the owner is throwing around the words like "tradegy", the GM is saying they're moving on without him and they're trading up to draft two 2nd round WRs ... it's not hard to read the tea leaves as to how that process is going.   They may not have day to day contact with him, but if he's violated terms of his re-reinstatement the league likely sends them notice, just as they sent them notice every time he was in violation.     It seems crazy/dumb that he wouldn't fully engage in the reinstatement guidelines, but it's crazy/dumb he found himself in this position just 1.5 years into his career in the first place.

The Jaguars have made it clear they don't expect him back in 2014.
